Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Leadership to oversee the performance and strategic direction of our Sector/Practice Marketing Directors. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role as a mentor and quality assurance leader, driving excellence across all our sector-specific marketing initiatives.

This role demands a strategic thinker who prioritizes audience-centered, insight-led approaches aligned with firm-wide objectives. You will collaborate with our Marketing's Centers of Excellence (COEs) to ensure innovative and impactful execution across all sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Sector & Practice Marketing Directors across various HKS sectors.
  • Critically assess and align marketing strategies with firm goals and client insights.
  • Ensure compliance with HKS marketing best practices, including campaign calendars and performance metrics.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between sector leaders and the CMO to highlight insights, opportunities, and risks.
  • Drive consistency in messaging and campaign execution across sectors.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among teams through regular strategy sessions.
  • Mentor marketing directors on effective stakeholder engagement at all organizational levels.
  • Collaborate closely with all COEs to align resources and strategic needs effectively.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance sector marketing performance and processes.
  • Contribute to broader marketing leadership initiatives, including governance and succession planning.
  • Model and uphold the firm’s cultural values, emphasizing quality, innovation, and growth.
  • Invest in the professional development of the team through mentoring and performance management.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive team environment that attracts, trains, and retains talent.
  • Manage conflicts adeptly and nurture a collaborative workspace.
  • Maintain strong partnerships within project teams to enhance communication and approachability.
  • Champion sustainable work practices to foster a green workplace.
  • Develop project budgets and timelines in collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Oversee financial implications regarding project plans and team usage rates.
  • Lead project management efforts to maximize ROI while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Coach practice leadership on go-to-market strategies to support growth and revenue objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience in complex organizations.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in professional services, particularly in architectural or design sectors, is preferred.
  • Proven success in leading B2B marketing teams and creating integrated strategies.
  • Experience with managing marketing Centers of Excellence (COEs).
  • Strong background in market research, competitive analysis, and performance measurement.
  • A track record of managing teams in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across various stakeholder groups and levels of seniority.
  • Proven experience in aligning marketing strategies with business growth.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and visual communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellence in all endeavors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Outstanding presentation abilities with strong organizational skills for multitasking.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with business development teams.
