Summary
The Director of Events and Revenue Strategy is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to drive revenue growth, elevate the brand, and enhance the visitor experience at Grand Central Terminal (GCT). This senior-level role oversees all event operations (commercial, cultural, and civic), monetization strategies, and supporting marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a blend of commercial acumen, creative vision, and operational excellence to one of the world's most iconic transportation and retail destinations.
This individual will collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and the community to curate a compelling experience that enhances the Terminal’s retail and food offerings and aligns with property goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Program Vision Leadership
- Own and articulate a clear, long-term program vision for events, partnerships, and public engagement at Grand Central Terminal, ensuring alignment with broader asset positioning and revenue goals.
- Serve as the primary steward of program quality, ensuring all events and activations meet a consistent standard of excellence and reinforce the GCT brand as a premium, landmark destination.
- Curate a full and cohesive calendar of activations that balances commercial performance, cultural relevance and civic identity.
- Provide leadership and direction to internal teams to ensure alignment between vision, execution, and revenue performance, elevating both creative output and operational rigor.
- Event Strategy & Management
- Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of all events hosted at Grand Central Terminal, including public programming, brand activations, seasonal markets, and private events.
- Work with internal and external partners to create a calendar of events that aligns with GCT’s brand and strategic goals.
- Directly manage the Events team members, providing strategic direction and performance oversight across all event functions.
- The terminal’s onsite production team is responsible for all event logistics, liability and risk mitigation, vendor coordination, staffing, site maintenance and security, and post-event analysis.
- Ensure all events comply with safety, legal, and logistical standards while preserving the landmark status of the terminal.
- Revenue Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize event revenue streams, including event rentals, sponsorships, experiential marketing, advertising, and special events.
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships that align with the Terminal’s commercial vision.
- Provide leadership for inbound and outbound sales initiatives, including actively sourcing and cultivating relationships that add strategic commercial and brand value to the Terminal.
- Oversee revenue forecasting, target-setting, pricing models, and financial performance metrics for events and commercial activations.
- Collaborate with retail tenants and vendors to drive foot traffic and sales.
- Events Marketing & Brand Management
- Oversee digital, social, email, and print campaigns that support event activation in collaboration with marketing agencies or in-house teams.
- Manage brand consistency across all public-facing events collateral, touchpoints and experiences.
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Develop and manage the events business P&L across operating budgets, revenue, expenses, and variance analysis.
- Provide monthly reporting on events, sales, sponsorships, and pipeline activity.
- Partner with Accounting to monitor tenant receivables and assist with collections.
- Support reforecasting, budgeting, and other financial planning initiatives.
- Collaboration & Administration
- Interface with MTA and Metro-North to maintain positive relationships and ensure compliance with property guidelines.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team (events, marketing, and strategy professionals) and manage external vendors and consultants.
- Work closely with internal departments including operations, legal, retail leasing, and finance.
- Represent GCT with key external stakeholders, sponsors, media, and civic organizations.
- Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on KPIs, revenue targets, and campaign outcomes.
- Coordinate with Marketing and Event departments to support promotions, merchandising standards, and overall program goals.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and broader property management efforts.
- Support internal client and legal teams in leasing documentation, assignments, and legal matters.

Qualifications
- *Education & Experience**
- Bachelor's degree preferred, in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of proven sales experience in venue sales, event production, revenue strategy and/or marketing with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and revenue targets.
- Deep understanding of New York City’s cultural landscape and regulatory environment is a plus.

- Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with retail sales systems and leasing CRM tools.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Professional demeanor and ability to build strong tenant and stakeholder relationships.
- Existing relationships and a strong network across the brand, corporate, and/or event production world is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, bend, reach, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. regularly and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
- Adequate manual dexterity and vision to use computer equipment and monitor retail displays.
- Capability to move around office space and event space regularly.
