Job Overview
The Vice President of Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing Tombot's comprehensive marketing strategy. This position oversees all marketing functions, with a heavy emphasis on leading execution across performance marketing, public relations, social media, content, trade shows, and thought leadership. The VP of Marketing will build and lead a high-performing marketing team, manage the existing Creative Director, and spearhead a major brand overhaul encompassing packaging, communications, and visual identity. The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and has deep experience marketing consumer products at the intersection of technology, health, and emotional wellness.

Responsibilities
● Develop and execute a comprehensive, full-funnel marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, customer acquisition, and revenue growth for Tombot's robotic companion products across both consumer (D2C) and institutional (B2B) channels.
● Build, scale, and lead a high-performing marketing team spanning performance marketing, PR, social media, content marketing, and events; directly manage the Creative Director and future hires across these disciplines.
● Own and drive performance marketing strategy including paid digital (SEM, paid social, display, programmatic), SEO, and email marketing; establish KPIs, track attribution, and optimize campaigns to maximize ROI and customer acquisition cost efficiency.
● Lead and execute public relations and earned media strategy, cultivating relationships with journalists, influencers, and industry analysts to amplify Tombot’s story and thought leadership in aging care, robotics, and health technology.
● Develop and oversee social media strategy across all platforms, creating compelling narratives that build community engagement, showcase product impact, and drive organic growth.
● Direct content marketing efforts including blog, video, case studies, white papers, and customer testimonials that educate target audiences and establish Tombot as a category leader in robotic emotional support animals.
● Plan and manage Tombot’s presence at industry trade shows, conferences, and events (e.g., CES, aging/healthcare conferences), maximizing brand exposure and lead generation opportunities.
● Establish Tombot’s thought leadership platform by developing executive visibility programs, securing speaking engagements, publishing bylined articles, and positioning Tombot leadership as authoritative voices in robotic companionship and aging care innovation.
● Define and track marketing KPIs, analytics dashboards, and ROI models; present regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to the CEO and leadership team.
● Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure cohesive go-to-market strategies and align marketing initiatives with business objectives.
● Manage marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across channels and initiatives to deliver maximum impact.
● Additional duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsEducation and Experience
● Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field. MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
● 12+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (VP or Director level) overseeing full-spectrum marketing functions at a consumer products, consumer electronics, health/wellness, or technology company.
● Demonstrated track record of building and scaling marketing teams from the ground up, including recruiting, mentoring, and managing cross-functional creative and marketing professionals.
Skills and Competencies
● Expert-level proficiency in digital marketing platforms, marketing automation tools, CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce), and analytics platforms (Google Analytics, social media analytics)
● Proven success in performance marketing including paid media strategy, SEO/SEM, programmatic advertising, and data-driven campaign optimization with measurable ROI
● Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with a track record of hiring, developing, and inspiring high-performing marketing teams in a fast-paced startup or growth-stage environment
● Outstanding strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex data into actionable marketing insights, and excellent communication skills with the ability to present to executive leadership and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience leading a major brand overhaul or rebrand, including packaging redesign, visual identity systems, and integrated communications strategy.
● Background in healthcare, aging care, robotics, consumer electronics, IoT, or medical device industries. Experience marketing products with strong emotional or wellness-driven value propositions.
● Experience at a high-growth startup or venture-backed company, with a proven ability to operate with limited resources while delivering outsized results. Familiarity with D2C e-commerce, B2B institutional sales, and trade show marketing.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This role is based onsite at Tombot's headquarters in Santa Clarita, CA. Travel required approximately 15-25% for trade shows, conferences, media events, and partner meetings.

Compensation & Benefits
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and market factors. The base salary range for this role is expected to be between $185,000 and $230,000 per year. In addition to cash compensation, this role may be eligible for equity awards and a performance bonus, aligning individual impact with Tombot’s long-term success. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
Workplace Model & Collaboration Expectations
Tombot is currently an in-office organization. We believe that real-time, in-person collaboration supports innovation, strengthens cross-functional partnership, and enables the rapid iteration required to build complex, human-centered robotic products.
Team members are expected to work onsite at our Santa Clarita, CA office during standard business hours (though occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines or product development milestones). While we support flexibility for personal appointments and individual needs and have Flexible Fridays where employees may choose to work remotely on Fridays; our work is primarily designed to be performed in person to support teamwork, communication, and product development success.
We recognize that flexibility is important and encourage open communication with managers to support reasonable scheduling needs while maintaining our collaborative, onsite-first culture.
