About Us: Beyond Type 1 was co-founded by Nick Jonas in 2015. Our mission is to help people living with diabetes survive and thrive. We are the home of the largest diabetes community - 5 million strong and growing. From resources and truth talk about living with diabetes (eg: ‘Sex, Pumps & CGMs’, ‘Your Type 1 Guide to Music Festivals’) to helping you find affordable insulin (getinsulin.org) to connecting with other people living with diabetes, we are dedicated to building community for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Beyond Type 1, a nonprofit organization redefining what it means to live with diabetes, is searching for an experienced and visionary marketing leader to drive our brand’s next chapter. As Vice President, Marketing, you’ll take the lead in shaping bold strategies, building digital-first campaigns, and elevating our impact in the nonprofit space while mentoring a driven, smart, compassionate team. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage & Mentor:
- Inspire, lead, mentor, and manage a fully remote, high-performing team of digital marketers, creatives and strategists, plus freelancers and contractors, across core marketing functions
- Advocate for and manage team capabilities and bandwidth by resourcing for an ambitious marketing calendar; set and deliver on marketing goals, objectives, and KPIs; manage strategic and contracted integration of sponsors and partners
- Provide day-to-day leadership and create developmental opportunities within the organization through mentoring, constructive feedback, and a culture of accountability.
- Lead Marketing Production + Processes:
- Implement studio best practices to improve efficiencies
- Build and manage departmental budgets, marketing production costs, and team resources
- Focus on an overall growth strategy for the brand and continually refine marketing alignment based on business, programmatic, impact, and fundraising goals, with a test and learn mentality
- Create go forward-plans and scopes of work that show clear ROI
- Lead Brand + Program Marketing:
- Create brand-building, highly creative digital-first marketing initiatives, awareness campaigns, and content across a variety of goals including health education and promotion, program/product marketing, destigmatization, community-building, and fundraising
- Develop strategic decks and briefs to build alignment and cross-functional buy-in
- Guide brand strategy, experiential design, and marketing of programs and events in close collaboration with SVP, Social Impact and Global Advocacy.
- Implement Deep Data Analytics & Insights:
- Lead creation of optimized marketing initiatives with data-driven decision making and deep community insights
- Build and implement cost-effective ongoing market research strategy and customer segmentation. Drive and support best-in-class marketing practices e.g.: A/B testing, user behavior, social insights, etc
- Drive Proactive & Open Communication:
- Drive alignment and collaboration across the team, guiding business and marketing strategy cross-functionally, with special attention to business and operations alignment across the executive team
- Demonstrate negotiation skills and conflict resolution with collaborative work style driven by curiosity and respect. Work closely with the marketing team to plan for, manage, and mentor through ambitious priorities
Desired Qualifications:
- 5-8 years experience managing a team of marketing professionals with a proven track record of building a brand and brand campaigns from ideation to fruition
- Deep and diverse experience that including developing creative concepts, crafting strategic plans, executing cross-channel initiatives, and delivering measurable results that drive engagement, growth, and brand loyalty in fast-paced, digital-first, high-performing organizations
- High creative ability with the skills to reimagine nonprofit marketing with a fresh, contemporary approach, distinguishing Beyond Type 1 as a trailblazer in the space
- Experience in pitching partners in collaboration with cross-functional team members
- Possess strong social and emotional intelligence, enabling effective collaboration, empathetic communication, conflict resolution, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Familiarity with the digital landscape, including social media, email marketing, video content, and cultivating digital audiences
- Experience with data analytics in development and measurement of marketing strategy and tactics
- Strong creative production network to create purpose-driven, attention-grabbing digital-first content
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural understanding
- Portfolio of successful marketing campaigns that showcase creativity, strategic thinking, and measurable impact
- Some international marketing experience and/or contacts is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Deep commitment to continuing diabetes education required; knowledge of the diabetes lived experience and space preferred
The Salary for this position is
$170,000-200,000.
