The National Association of Theatre Owners represents the hardworking owners and operators of movie theatres across the US and the world. We believe that movie theatres are places for everyone and their cultural and financial importance to their communities makes it essential that we advocate to ensure their long-term success. Our goal is to unite and promote the cinema industry so that moviegoing remains the leading out-of-home entertainment choice for current and future generations. To accomplish this feat, we need a Chief Communications Officer to develop and execute a communications strategy that effectively advocates for exhibition. The goals of this position align with the priorities identified in the most recent NATO strategic plan. These priorities include 1.) theatrical content advocacy, 2.) government relations advocacy; 3.) moviegoing promotion; and 4.) community building. The specific objectives for the Chief Communications Officer in their first year include:
- Lead the association’s media relations, ensuring the voice of exhibition is included in relevant industry discussions and framed positively to support the membership.
- Develop and executive a cohesive communications plan for CinemaCon, NATO’s cornerstone annual event, that increases its visibility and engagement with members, key stakeholders, and the general public.
- Revamp internal communications processes to increase effectiveness and maximize the efforts all of team members.
- Develop an overarching social media plan that utilizes appropriate channels to reach intended audiences.
- Improve the quality and efficacy of NATO’s research function to create actionable reports that drive the industry forward.
- Contribute to the overall organization’s strategic direction as a key member of the leadership team

Location:
This position will be based out of our Los Angeles, CA office. On a daily basis, employees have the option to work from home or at the office, but all employees are required to attend certain meetings and functions in-person.
