Job Overview
The Director of Marketing will work closely with the VP of Marketing and across the ALLIES team to help bring new products to market and establish a unique positioning for our brand. This role is accountable for delivering high-quality product launches that support
Allies of Skin's product portfolio by leveraging consumer insights, data, and trends while supporting the founder’s vision.
The Director will play a key role in shaping product strategy, positioning, and go-to-market execution to ensure the brand’s continued innovation and growth in the global beauty marketplace.
You'll Do
Product Positioning
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Product Development, Sales, and Creative to build effective strategies for product launches, positioning, messaging, and product innovation.
- Launch Process Leadership: Own the internal kickoff process, including product positioning, go-to-market tactics, launch sizing, and sampling strategies.
- Trend and Market Analysis: Conduct ongoing research to identify consumer trends, challenges, and opportunities to position Allies of Skin products for success in the competitive marketplace.
- Product Vision Alignment: Capture the brand’s unique ethos by working with the product team and Creative to ensure marketing campaigns reflect the company’s vision and goals.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Lead the vendor briefing process, ensuring a seamless connection between the founder’s vision and go-to-market needs.
- Retail & Sampling Strategy: Coordinating the annual JBP, hallmarks, sampling, and promotional strategy, ensuring retail alignment.
Go-To-Market Strategy:
- New Product Development: Lead NPD presentations, ensuring all product launches are optimized for market success from conception through to shelf.
- Creative and Messaging Coordination: Partner with Creative, Copy, and Sales teams to ensure new product launches have cohesive and compelling storytelling, from assets creation to POS.
- Internal Communication: Own all creative and go-to-market kickoffs, ensuring alignment across departments and that each product launch maximizes its market potential.
- Sales and Market Feedback: Work with the sales, retail, and CX teams to gather consumer insights, improving product positioning and storytelling.
- Performance Tracking: Own quarterly product reports, assessing sales performance, sentiment, and provide strategic analysis to inform future marketing strategies.
- Retail Marketing Expertise: Oversee all aspects of retail marketing, from in-store activations to online presence, ensuring an exceptional omnichannel experience for our customer's direction of impactful and on-brand marketing collateral for these campaigns
Product Marketing and Growth:
- Hero Products & SKU Management: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of existing products, identifying opportunities for hero product growth across online & retail channels.
- Compliance & Product Claims: Collaborate with Legal and Regulatory teams to ensure all claims and product marketing are globally compliant.
- E-commerce Optimization: Oversee the PDP assets audit to ensure imagery and content maximize conversion across digital touchpoints.
- Promotional Strategy: Lead the global promotional and kitting strategy, creating on-brand recommendations for sets, kits, and retail exclusives.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Training & Product Knowledge: Partner with internal teams to create strategic product toolkits and education materials to support product launches.
- Retail Partnerships: Create and manage product launch presentations, pitch decks, and sales materials to secure shelf space in global retail environments.
- Influencer Relations: Support influencer communication strategies, working closely with the Influencer Relations team to align product positioning with influencer content.
- PR Strategy: Collaborate with PR agencies to ensure cohesive messaging and media strategies for product launches, ensuring the brand’s voice is consistent across all channels.
- Social Media Oversight: Work with the social media team to create compelling product storytelling across all social platforms, ensuring alignment with overall marketing objectives and driving brand awareness.
To Be Successful in This Role:
- Strong understanding of Allies of Skin’s brand, products, customers, and mission.
- Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills with the ability to present compelling marketing concepts to leadership.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Collaborative mindset, with proven success working cross-functionally across product development, sales, and marketing.
- Expertise in beauty industry trends and competitive landscape across various categories.
You are
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience, including at least 7 years of product marketing in the beauty or personal care space.
- Proven experience developing product positioning strategies, ingredient storytelling, and managing product claims.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven marketing approach.
- Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and other business tools.
- Passion for beauty and skincare, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
