Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and re-purposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.
The Media Processing and Distribution team is looking for a candidate who specializes in caching technology, distributed networking, and operational experience in CDN edge services. This role will join the Media Engineering organization as part of the Distribution Engineering team which develops and maintains CDN configurations for all CDNs in the Disney Distribution Mesh.
Responsibilities
Oversee Day-to-Day operations of Disney Distribution Mesh
Actively manage incidents, communicating across distribution teams, and performing root cause analysis
Actively review performance metrics across our caching infrastructure for improvements (in concert with operations and performance management teams)
Identifying areas for tuning and adjustment
Work to solve distribution issues in concert with our operations and engineering organizations
Build and execute frameworks for Incident, Problem and Change Management based on ITIL standards
Provide tier-2 on call evaluation, escalation and support
Basic Qualifications
BS/BA required
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing caching solutions, preferably in a Content Distribution Network environment
Experience in Content Distribution Network operations environments
Expert knowledge of CDN Provider architectures and configurations
Understanding of streaming video protocols (HLS) and how it interacts with caching
Ability to perform Network Troubleshooting
Knowledge of video players and impact on cache logic

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $109,500 to $146,800 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $104,600 to $140,200; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $114,500 to $153,500 per year and in Morrisville/Raleigh, North Carolina is $99,600- $133,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
