The Global Private Capital Association (GPCA) is an independent, non-profit, membership organization with headquarters in New York and Singapore that represents private capital investors who manage more than USD2t in assets across Asia, Latin America, Africa, Central & Eastern Europe and the Middle East. United by a long-term investment approach, our members are fund and institutional investors including private equity, growth equity, venture capital, private credit, real assets, pension plans and sovereign wealth funds, among others. GPCA includes LAVCA, the Association for Private Capital Investment in Latin America, which operates as a parallel membership organization with its own dedicated team and board. GPCA and LAVCA support members and the industry through authoritative research and intelligence, conferences, networking, education, and advocacy. The organization also has a presence in the Middle East through a strategic partnership with the Middle East Venture Capital Association (MEVCA).
Role Description:
The Managing Director of Marketing and Communications reports directly to GPCA’s CEO, forms part of the core leadership team and manages a three-person global team that is collectively responsible for all of the organization’s internal and external marketing. The position also presents an opportunity to contribute across global strategy and functions. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, confident, resourceful, and have exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage several projects at once.
Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Manage and motivate a global marketing and communications team based in New York and Singapore. Inspire, mentor, and develop team members to maximize performance and professional growth, while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Content marketing: Set strategic direction and oversee an ambitious calendar of campaigns promoting GPCA and LAVCA programs, products, and services across our platforms, including an influential set of newsletters, email campaigns, social media, websites, and third-party media.
- Editing and analytics: Manage content through its publishing lifecycle across multiple platforms, managing the team against deadlines, proofing communications, and being the last word on quality. Set and oversee content KPIs and ensure those targets are being met and opportunities for growth are being identified and exploited.
- Member communications: Draft and distribute regular member communications to GPCA and LAVCA constituents.
- Internal communications: Draft and distribute internal communications to staff in coordination with CEO and executive team.
- Media Relations: Manage the organization’s external public relations vendor. Be the main point of contact for proactive and reactive media relations, including fulfilling inbound data media requests, coordinating interviews, drafting and distributing press releases, and organizing outbound press pitches.
- Partnerships: Oversee strategy and explore new opportunities for GPCA and LAVCA event partnerships and speaker placement at industry events.
- Cross-Departmental Project management: Lead and manage cross-departmental projects, ensuring seamless collaboration between teams, such as campaign launches, website updates, and product initiatives. Foster a culture of open communication and teamwork to drive project success.
- Third-party relationships: Manage marcomm-related vendors including graphic designers, web developers and others, and track performance, timelines, and budget allocations.
- Budget: Manage marketing and communications budget in coordination with CEO and finance team
Requirements and Skills:
- 7-10 years of experience in a Marketing and Communications function, with a robust understanding of content strategies and products
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a global team, fostering professional growth and a high-performance culture. Proven experience in mentoring and developing talent while maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment across departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with CRM, marketing automation, and digital marketing strategies. Data-driven content management and analytics experience are a plus.
- Highly disciplined and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Global experience and mindset; preferably multilingual
- Background in/knowledge of private investment is a plus
