The In-Store Marketing Specialist is instrumental in promoting this culture of creativity by bringing courage and empathy to their work and those they collaborate with in support of the in-store experience and the JOANN brand. This role focuses on strategy and objectives in the execution of signing & point of purchase tools that bring our mission & vision to life. In-Store Marketing Specialists lead marketing projects across multiple merchandising categories, cross functional requests and store development initiatives for a national retailer with over 800 stores and +$2B in sales. In addition, this role will have frequent interactions with merchants from assigned categories regularly to discuss implementation and success of in-store marketing materials. Individual specialists have categories that support over $500 million in sales.
Job Duties
- As project manager, the position will own projects from development through execution with a focus on strategic objectives.
- Initiates job requests with detailed print specifications & briefs based on partnership with GMM, DMM, Leadership teams and buyer.
- Collaborates closely with Creative Services & cross functional partners to develop marketing plans, design concepts, crafting & photography needs, printing and store execution details.
- Owns dept. & categories of the business.
- Owns projects from development through execution with a focus on strategic objectives.
- Presents marketing concepts & ideas to executive partners during walks or strategy meetings.
- Create & pitch influence marketing decks for major updates.
- Manages project updates, new launch partners with buyers bringing ideas to life in stores in multi-layered, multi-version point-of-purchase.
- Manages project timeline with all cross-merchant partners for all steps: Buyer, creative, crafted content, photo studio, space planning, finance & print.
Sources multi-bid quoting that takes into consideration cost & production efficiencies.Builds complex sign distribution strategies.Makes decisions regarding vendor selection and inventory management of sign in-stocks.Works with Department Lead to manage print budget for assigned categories, 500 mil & up responsibility.Manages & maintains current sign data for assigned categories in JOANN’s print vendor database for all project content and current inventory. Up to 2,500 SKUs or more of owned inventory.Manages low-level pushes, owns inventory life expectancy and accuracy.Manages print quotes for all assigned projects to ensure all projects are printed within budget and meets our quality standards while also arriving on-time.
- Actively assists with monthly budget deliverables, including forecasting, reconciliation & month close.
- Plays a key role in ongoing vendor management. Finds creative solutions for cost efficiencies; ensures overall project costs align with budget.
Solicits key stakeholder support, problem solves and influences others via key process improvements.
- Drives signing needs for project store activity and store development initiatives.
- Participates as an active member of the Creative Team and the JOANN family, providing support & assistance whenever needed.
Education & Experience
Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree related to Marketing or Advertising
Experience Minimum: 4-6 years of experience in Marketing related functions
Experience Preferred: Merchandising / retail store experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This role requires in-person attendance 4 days a week at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH. Flexibility to work remotely when requested is determined by management and business needs.
- This position includes some travel to retail stores for product/store walks.
- Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.
- Move around an office space and between buildings on a large campus, including reaching for files, retail product, supplies, or equipment, as well as the ability to adapt to various workstation setups.
- Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.
- Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.
- Lift and carry office supplies, documents, retail product or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for tasks such as organizing or setting up workstations.
