Job Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as the Chief of Staff at BLUE Missions, working closely with the CEO to lead day-to-day operations, implement our strategic growth initiatives, and ensure effective program delivery. This pivotal role is essential to achieving BLUE Missions’ long-term goals by optimizing organizational structure, advancing our mission, and supporting the teams across US and international programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Oversee and implement BLUE Missions’ strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and growth objectives.
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives to support organizational scaling and sustainable development.
- Operational Management
- Manage day-to-day operations and drive operational efficiency across all programs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor key executive team members, including the VP of US Programs, VP of International Programs, VP of Development, and Director of Finance and Administration.
- Establish performance benchmarks and regularly evaluate team progress to ensure objectives are met.
- Financial Oversight
- Work with the Director of Finance and Administration to manage budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation in alignment with strategic goals.
- Ensure financial health and sustainability by monitoring expenses, identifying efficiencies, and supporting revenue-generating initiatives.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks that could impact the organization’s financial stability and operational success.
- Growth Initiatives & Organizational Scaling
- Design and implement scalable processes that support the organization's expansion into new communities and programs.
- Develop partnerships and networks that enhance BLUE Missions’ impact, collaborating with key stakeholders across nonprofit, private, and governmental sectors.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior operational role, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated success in scaling organizations, with a strong operational and strategic planning background.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Financial acumen, with experience overseeing budgets and resource allocation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on efficiency and operational excellence.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of fostering relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
