StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a highly qualified psychiatrist to join its outstanding Senior Executive Team as Chief Medical Officer (Part-time Position).
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Serves as the primary source of medical expertise for the Chief Executive Officer.
- Provides medical leadership for the Senior Executive Team, proactively identifying areas in need of attention.
- Serves as StarCare’s subject matter expert in all medical services and provides cross-functional support to any discipline accordingly.
- Uses a collaborative approach to align and coordinate patient care across different disciplines to positively impact health outcomes, the quality of medical care and increase efficiency of operations.
- Supports quality improvement, credentialling, peer reviews, utilization management, death reviews and risk management initiatives.
- Leads and coordinates clinical projects to optimize clinical workflow and quality patient outcomes.
- Oversees StarCare’s medication formulary and prescribing practices.
- Monitors key performance indicators and patient outcomes to identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to design, implement, and evaluate clinical processes to ensure high standards of patient safety and care quality.
- Analyzes treatment protocols for compliance with evidence-based practices and regulatory requirements, recommending improvements as needed.
- Suggests strategies to address overutilization or underutilization in clinical care processes.
- Performs internal audits as needed to ensure clinical projects meet performance goals and suggests modifications as necessary.
- Participates in meetings with project teams to discuss goals, progress, and challenges, offering insights and solutions to overcome obstacles.
- Participates in regulatory-required performance improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of quality enhancement strategies.
- Provides cross-functional support for infection control, treatment planning, quality management, utilization management and risk management as needed.
- Assists with special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Schedule: This is a part-time position; scheduled hours are flexible and will be negotiated with the CEO to meet the needs of the organization.

Qualifications
- Board Certified Medical Doctor/Psychiatrist, Licensed to practice medicine in Texas.
- 10+ years of clinical experience required with 5+ years of experience serving as a Chief Medical Officer.
- 3+ years of experience working with electronic health records required.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.

Additional Requirements
