EH&E is an employee-owned company and is targeting double-digit growth for the next 5 years to support expansion plans and grow the value of EH&E stock. Although EH&E has an impressive list of repeat clients that date back several decades, the anticipated growth will require significant expansion of the number of new clients that work with EH&E as well as expanding enterprise-wide sales with existing clients.
Each business sector is under the direction of a Managing Principal Consultant (MPC) who is responsible for the delivery of technical services and maintaining strong relations with current clients.
Job Summary
The Vice President of Sales & Marketing (VP Sales & Marketing) is responsible for setting the strategic direction for sales and marketing while driving sustained double-digit growth for Environmental Health & Engineering (EH&E). Reporting to the President/Chief Operating Officer, this individual will lead initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent, hold the team accountable to results, and implement proven systems to drive revenue growth, especially through net new business.
This leader will oversee both sales and marketing teams, creating alignment across functions to optimize results. With strong focus on coaching, accountability, and innovation, they will continue to expand EH&E’s position as a leader in environmental building science.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
- Develop and implement a proven and repeatable sales process to ensure team quota attainment above 80%.
- Determine leading activity indicators and set individual KPIs for each team member.
- Coach and hold individual Market Executives (MEs) accountable for achieving net new revenue targets and building the sales pipeline needed to hit the revenue targets.
- Develop and implement a proven hiring process to attract and retain top talent, ensuring high-performing teams.
- Set and execute strategic sales plans, establishing yearly goals in collaboration with Managing Principal Consultants and other senior leadership.
- Drive revenue growth with a focus on securing new business opportunities, including strategic partnerships and alliances.
- Leverage CRM systems to monitor sales performance, track progress, and generate insights for improved decision-making.
- Collaborate with the finance team to forecast activities, manage budgets, and deliver accurate financial reporting.
- Coach members of the Sector Leadership teams to improve their ability to expand existing project work.
- In conjunction with the MPCs develop yearly goals to track project expansion success.
Marketing Leadership
- Responsible for overseeing campaigns, content development, and marketing programs to enhance brand visibility and lead generation.
- Determine leading activity indicators and set individual KPIs for each team member.
- Coordinate integrated marketing strategies to support EH&E’s sales goals, ensuring alignment across teams.
- Utilize data analytics and CRM tools to drive strategy adjustments, monitor client behaviors, and optimize campaign performance.
- Through reporting and analytics, validate the quality of leads and pipeline data and provide guidance to improve the overall lead quality.
- Evaluate vendor relationships and external resources to maximize marketing ROI.
- Foster innovation in marketing initiatives, leveraging digital platforms and SEO strategies to maintain EH&E’s competitive edge.
- Establish P&L accountability for the marketing team and optimize expenditure against results.
Strategic Direction & Team Development
- Set the overall vision for sales and marketing, aligning with EH&E’s strategic objectives.
- Establish and execute a proven hiring process to attract and retain top-tier talent, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide weekly 1:1 coaching and group training sessions for team members, focusing on professional development and performance improvement.
- Partner with practice leads to align sales and marketing strategies with market demands and service goals.
- Champion innovation by anticipating and adapting to changing industry trends and market conditions.
Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required (business management or marketing preferred); Master’s degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of proven leadership experience in sales and marketing with in a consulting and service based company, with a history of driving sustained double-digit growth required.
- A successful track record for taking a consulting and service company from $25M to $50M through annual double-digit growth in under 6 years or similar business experience required.
- Expertise in hiring and retaining high-performing teams, with a structured approach to onboarding and talent development.
- Proficiency in CRM/ERP systems for data tracking, reporting, and strategic decision-making required.
- Experience with consultative sales, digital marketing platforms, SEO, and marketing analytics tools.
- Strategic thinking with a track record of solving complex business challenges and exceeding targets.
