About The Role:
One For the Books (OFTB), is an Asheville-based marketing consultancy that provides experienced marketing for experienced brands. We specialize in growing heritage brands (10-100 years old) in food, home, hospitality and arts & culture through short-term marketing campaigns and long-term fractional marketing leadership.
We are seeking a Brand Design Manager with a strong graphic design background to lead visual brand management for our client projects. This person is highly creative, forward-thinking, and able to handle projects at all levels of complexity. The Brand Design Manager can meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards under minimal supervision, and isn’t afraid to experiment, conceptualize, play and help our clients visualize the possibilities of their brand worlds. The ideal candidate can take ideas and develop them from a brief or conversation, ask thoughtful questions, collaborate with the client and team, and accept constructive feedback.

Work Schedule:
This position is a great fit for someone in a similar creative design role who currently holds another P/T position or is ready to level up in their career. The work can mostly be done on your own time as you see fit, with meetings 1-2x per week depending on campaigns. Meet in person or virtually.

Responsibilities:
The Visual Brand Manager will create, expand and manage the visual brand systems for all of our clients. The Manager will also serve as a brainstorm/mockup partner and lend professional insights and expertise to our clients’ in-house teams. This role offers room to play, test, and grow creatively while delivering exceptional design work and expanding the brand world of each client.
- Visual branding: along with leadership teams, lead the creative development of client brands with fresh designs and/or existing brand expansions. These include logos, secondary marks, brand style guides, palette development, and visual brand systems.
- Digital design: create graphics and templates for clients’ digital campaigns on website, social media, email, advertising.
- Print design: create marketing and sales materials including brochures, direct mail, magazine ads, cards, wayfinding, signage, billboards, posters.
- Experiential and other design: conceptualize and design prints for merchandise, event displays or creative installations, packaging and press boxes.
- In-house design: create pieces in-house for OFTB including proposal templates, presentations, research studio papers, social media graphics, and more.
- Organization: Keep brand systems and creative assets organized for OFTB and clients.
- Coordination: Because we are a small team, you should be comfortable working directly with vendors and printers, and preparing files for printing, proofing, delivery and/or installation.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating best practices into your design process.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in art/design or equivalent work experience in a creative space
- 5+ years experience in Graphic Design
- Advanced skills in graphic design, illustration, typography, branding
- Agency or in-house experience as a graphic designer, creative lead, or visual brand manager
- Campaign brief experience
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Open to taking creative risks, proposing ideas, and playing with concepts
- Ability to work on your own and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of website platforms (Squarespace, Wordpress, Webflow) a plus
- Strong organizational skills, project management experience a plus

Compensation:
$42,000 salary, part-time, 20 hours per week
This is a part-time position to start, with potential to grow into a full time salaried employee position with benefits. This role's base salary range for full-time is between $84-000 and $100,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
