Product Marketing EngineerDatakey, a product line of ATEK Access Technologies
About DatakeyFor 50 years, the Datakey name has been associated with innovative, rugged portable memory solutions. Today, Datakey is a brand of ATEK Access Technologies, with products designed into defense, aerospace, medical, industrial, and other mission-critical applications around the world. We’re a collaborative, engineering-driven team where employees have the opportunity to solve interesting challenges, make a meaningful impact, and help develop products built to perform for years to come.
The OpportunityDatakey is experiencing strong growth, driven by demand for post-quantum-ready cryptographic devices. That growth has outpaced the team's ability to tell the rest of the Datakey story: a proven, rugged, removable memory product line with innovative products: both existing and on the roadmap. We're hiring a Product Marketing Engineer to own that story: turning deep technical knowledge into meaningful content, product positioning, and digital marketing that reaches engineers designing embedded systems that could benefit from Datakey products.
You'll work directly with our Senior Product Manager, learning the product and the market from the ground up, with real room to grow into broader product management responsibility as you prove yourself.
What You'll DoContent & Technical Marketing
- Develop and refine the Datakey brand's core messaging, value proposition, and competitive positioning across key market verticals and turn that into content the sales team can use.
- Create technical marketing content for an engineering audience: white papers, application notes, case studies, datasheets, blog articles, and video.
- Own our website's SEO/GEO and content strategy, helping embedded engineers searching for access control and rugged removable memory find Datakey.
- Build out developer and support documentation, including integration guides for common embedded processing platforms.
- Manage and grow our presence on LinkedIn and other social channels.
- Represent Datakey at industry trade shows and customer events (2–4 per year), demonstrating products and collaborating with engineers, with up to 15% domestic and international travel.
Product Knowledge
- Become the technical expert on Datakey products.
- Be hands-on with the Datakey product line: creating demo systems, working with dev kits, and generating technical content.
Product Management Support
- Partner with our Senior Product Manager on product requirement specs and coordination with our development and engineering teams.
- Take on defined product management responsibilities as you ramp up, with real opportunity to grow this part of the role over time.
- Perform competitive product analysis and identify new markets and applications.
- Support the sales team by joining customer and technical sales conversations as a product expert where appropriate.
AI-Enabled Execution
- Use AI tools as a core part of how you work: drafting content, researching markets and competitors, and moving through the backlog faster: not a bonus skill, but part of how this role operates.
- Apply technical expertise to fact-check and edit any AI-generated/assisted content before release.
- Look for better AI-enabled tools and workflows as they emerge to share with the team.
What You'll Bring• A technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience, with a genuine comfort in discussing embedded systems, firmware and software programming, and removable non-volatile memory technologies (USB, SD, EEPROM, flash memory, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to write and create technical and marketing content for an engineering audience, and comfort being the face of that content in video, at trade shows, and in person.
- Real curiosity about product strategy, market positioning, and customer needs: you ask why a product wins or loses in the market, not just how it works.
Nice to Have• Experience with SEO or website content management.
- Comfort with video production or on-camera presentation.
- Hands-on experience with common embedded development platforms and development tools.
- Prior customer-facing experience at trade shows or conferences.
- An understanding of encryption and its use in embedded systems.
Growth PathThis role is not a sales job. You won't be expected to cold-call or chase new accounts. It's a technical marketing and product role built for someone who wants to go deep on both.
Over your first year, you'll build real ownership of Datakey content and go-to-market story for the brand. As you demonstrate strategic judgment alongside strong execution, the role is designed to grow into broader product management scope: a genuine path for someone who wants to move from engineering into product leadership.
