Position Overview

Buckfire Law Firm is seeking an experienced Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead the firm’s marketing, branding, and growth strategy. This senior leadership role is responsible for setting direction, driving measurable performance, and aligning marketing initiatives with the firm’s overall business and revenue goals. The CMO will oversee marketing strategy and execution while working closely with executive leadership on long-term growth initiatives.

This position requires Michigan residency and regular access to the firm’s Southfield office and is not open to fully remote candidates.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Growth

• Develop and execute the firm’s overall marketing and growth strategy aligned with business and revenue objectives
• Establish short- and long-term marketing goals, benchmarks, and success metrics
• Partner with executive leadership on firmwide growth initiatives, expansion opportunities, and market positioning
• Translate business priorities into scalable, results-driven marketing strategies

Client Acquisition and Performance

• Own the firm’s client acquisition strategy across all channels, including digital, traditional, referral-based, and emerging platforms
• Oversee performance marketing initiatives, including lead generation, conversion optimization, and ROI analysis
• Use data, analytics, and reporting to evaluate effectiveness and adjust strategy to improve outcomes
• Drive continuous improvement in lead quality, cost efficiency, and client conversion

Brand and Market Positioning

• Protect and elevate the Buckfire Law brand across all marketing materials, platforms, and communications
• Ensure consistent messaging, voice, and visual identity firmwide
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry best practices
• Strengthen brand awareness and reputation in key markets

Team and Vendor Leadership

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Marketing Manager and broader marketing team
• Set priorities, define success metrics, and ensure accountability
• Oversee relationships with external agencies, vendors, and consultants
• Ensure alignment between internal teams and external partners

Budgeting, Reporting, and Accountability

• Develop, manage, and oversee the marketing budget
• Evaluate spend effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations
• Provide regular reporting to firm leadership on performance, trends, risks, and outcomes
• Take ownership of marketing results and performance against established goals

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Senior-level marketing leadership experience (CMO, VP of Marketing, or equivalent)
• Prior experience in law firms or service-related industries preferred
• Proven track record of driving measurable growth, client acquisition, and brand development
• Experience with TV, radio, and billboard advertising
• Strong knowledge of digital marketing, including paid and organic strategies
• Background in performance marketing, analytics, and strategic planning
• Experience leading teams, managing budgets, and overseeing vendors
• Results-oriented leader with strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
