As many of you know, I have been working for the US Department of Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) for the past 5+ years as the Chief Transformation Officer and more recently as the Acting leader of our Sales (Buying / Category Management), Omni-Channel Marketing and eCommerce Divisions. To say DeCA has been a rewarding venture is an understatement. We are part of the Military Pay & Benefit package providing a quality of life benefit in the form of savings to Active and Retired Military Families and Disabled Veterans. After a 12-consecutive year decline at 5% per year in the benefit the Agency delivers, we have turned it around and grown over 18.5% over the last 4 years with 9% more eligible households capturing their benefit by shopping in the commissary.

The Commissary System (DeCA) is a 236 large-format grocery business on or near military bases around the world. We are reaching out to bring more commercial grocery / brand-building experience into DeCA and build our leadership bench.

Below is a job announcement for a position in our Omni-Channel Marketing function, Chief, of our Patron (eligible shopper) Awareness Division. This role is responsible for the Agency’s digital marketing, social media, and customer communications programs. The goal of the role is to lead a team focused on growing the commissary brand, driving traffic to digital and brick and mortar sites, and cultivating loyalty via a strong connection with the military community and eligible commissary shoppers.
