golden eyes project | Remote | Approx. 10hrs/week | Unpaid Educational Internship golden eyes project (gep) is a nonprofit organization using art, design & regenerative thinking to develop initiatives that empower children and strengthen communities.
We’re looking for a Social Media Intern who wants hands-on experience in creative content development, visual storytelling, social engagement and performance-informed strategy while helping shape the early social presence of a growing nonprofit.
This is not a highly templated social media role. gep’s visual philosophy is inspired by an eclectic art gallery: each piece of content will look & feel different while still clearly accomplishing its purpose. We want someone who enjoys interpreting a creative prompt, developing an original concept and bringing their own visual perspective to the work.
What You’ll Do
The Social Media Intern will work alongside another Social Media Intern and gep’s Internship Director using an alternating Creation Week + Engagement Week workflow.
During Creation Weeks, you will
- Develop original social media concepts from assigned content prompts
- Design posts, stories & reels primarily in Canva
- Write & refine supporting social copy
- Share concepts for initial feedback before developing them independently
- Contribute developing work to gep’s shared Content Board
- Prepare & schedule approved content through Meta Business Suite
During Engagement Weeks, you will
- Check scheduled content to ensure it published correctly
- Respond appropriately to comments & direct messages
- Route partnership, collaboration and other organizational inquiries to the Internship Director
- Review engagement and content performance
- Carry those observations into your next Creation Week
What You’ll Learn
This internship is designed to build practical experience in:
- Social media content development
- Creative direction and visual storytelling
- Copywriting
- Nonprofit and mission-driven communications
- Canva
- Meta Business Suite
- Audience engagement and community management
- Social media performance analysis
- Collaborative creative workflows
- Translating organizational goals into public-facing communication
Interns will participate in weekly check-ins with the Internship Director to review progress, address roadblocks and establish goals for the coming week.
Who We’re Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you
- Enjoy visual communication, design, writing or social media
- Have a strong creative instinct and like developing original ideas
- Are comfortable receiving feedback while also working independently
- Pay attention to grammar, messaging & visual detail
- Are curious about why audiences respond differently to different content
- Communicate reliably in a remote environment
- Care about art, children, community wellbeing, social impact, salutogenic principles or regenerative thinking
Previous professional social media experience is not required. We care more about creativity, reliability, curiosity and your willingness to learn.
Experience with Canva, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Meta Business Suite, photography, video, graphic design or copywriting is helpful but not required.

About golden eyes project
golden eyes project is a public charity exploring how art, regeneration and human creativity can become resources for social impact.
Our work includes youth-development initiatives, creative programming, regenerative community concepts, artist collaboration and storytelling designed to help children recognize their creativity, capability and relationship to the world around them.
We’re still in an early stage of organizational development, which means interns have the opportunity to contribute to systems and creative work as they are actively being built rather than stepping into a fully established corporate structure.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to help build a social presence that is playful, compassionate, bold & creatively unconventional, we’d love to hear from you!
Seek art. See revolution.
