Group Product Marketing Manager, Google Play, Marketing

Position Overview
As the Group Product Marketing Manager for Google Play, you will shape the future of one of Google’s signature products with billions of users worldwide. In this leadership role, you will own the complete marketing journey—from determining positioning, competitive analysis, and feature prioritization to managing launch strategies and external communications. You will manage a team of consumer marketers, direct a significant budget, and oversee the US go‑to‑market strategy while collaborating with global teams across Sales, Product, Engineering, Legal, and more.
Compensation: The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $211,000‑$297,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, location, skills, experience, and education. Please note that the base salary does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the strategy to drive consumer adoption for each of Play’s key product platforms, collaborating with other Google teams to introduce Play to existing Google consumers.
- Tell the story of how Play helps developers grow their businesses and keeps consumers safe, engaging policy‑makers and key opinion formers on a global scale.
- Seek actionable consumer insights to inform product and marketing strategy while advocating for the consumer across marketing, product, and partner teams.
- Drive every facet of the product’s journey—including competitive analysis, product positioning, naming, objectives and metrics, launch strategy, and lifecycle management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 13 years of experience in marketing, working across one or more marketing fields (e.g., growth, product marketing, partnerships).
- 5 years of experience working with executive technical product leaders.
- 5 years of experience with people management.
- Experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross‑functionally across all levels of management while juggling multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to analyze research or performance data, develop insights, and optimize marketing activities.
- Ability to build collaborative partnerships with product teams.
- Passion for consumers and consumer experiences, with a focus on utilizing data and insights to improve the customer experience.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to nurture creativity and drive operational discipline.
