About the Role
The Marketing & Digital Engagement Manager leads Key to Change's day-to-day marketing, digital advertising, social media, website, SEO, visual brand, and multimedia content efforts.
This is not simply a social media position, nor is it an entry-level or early-career role. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on marketing professional who understands how to capture attention, tell compelling stories, understand audience behavior, build trust, and move people from awareness to action.
The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical. They can develop a campaign concept, manage digital advertising, collaborate with a content creator on video, create strong visual materials, improve a webpage for search and conversion, and use data to determine what should happen next.
This person will work closely with Key to Change's Communications & Development Manager, program staff, leadership, and creative partners to attract prospective students and families, engage donors and supporters, and strengthen our visibility throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Audience Growth
- Develop and execute marketing strategies across digital and traditional channels.
- Translate organizational priorities into campaigns and measurable outcomes.
- Build campaigns that increase prospective student inquiries, enrollment, donor engagement, event participation, and community visibility.
- Develop audience journeys that move people from awareness to engagement and conversion.
- Establish measurable goals and use performance data to improve results.
Digital Advertising, SEO & Website
- Plan, manage, and optimize paid advertising across platforms such as Google, Meta, and YouTube.
- Manage advertising budgets and evaluate cost per lead, conversion rates, return on advertising spend, and other performance indicators.
- Manage SEO and website optimization to strengthen organic search visibility.
- Develop landing pages and conversion pathways for enrollment, events, fundraising, and other priorities.
- Use analytics to understand audience behavior and improve digital performance.
Social Media & Content
- Lead Key to Change's social media strategy and content calendar.
- Create engaging content that reflects Key to Change's voice and brand.
- Develop concepts for short-form video, advertisements, student stories, interviews, reels, photography, and multimedia content.
- Collaborate with our content creator and other creative partners to produce compelling marketing assets.
- Use audience and engagement data to continually improve content strategy.
Brand, Design & Creative Direction
- Maintain and strengthen Key to Change's visual identity.
- Design or oversee advertisements, digital graphics, promotional materials, signage, presentations, and campaign assets.
- Provide creative direction to photographers, videographers, designers, animators, and other contractors.
- Lead the creative development of Presto, Key to Change's animated character, as a distinctive part of our public-facing brand.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first year, this person will have increased qualified prospective student and family inquiries, improved website conversion and organic search visibility, established measurable benchmarks for digital marketing, strengthened our content pipeline and visual identity, and demonstrated which marketing investments are producing meaningful results.
Success in this role is not measured simply by impressions, likes, or followers. We are looking for someone who understands how marketing contributes to enrollment, fundraising, audience growth, and organizational impact.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, business, design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in marketing, digital marketing, advertising, brand management, content marketing, e-commerce, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing significant marketing initiatives from strategy and concept through execution, measurement, and optimization.
- Demonstrated success generating measurable outcomes such as customer acquisition, enrollment, qualified leads, donations, registrations, or sales.
- Experience with paid digital advertising, social media, websites, digital analytics, and a strong working knowledge of SEO.
- Strong writing, editing, visual judgment, and demonstrated graphic design capabilities.
- Experience developing creative concepts for video, photography, advertising, or multimedia campaigns.
- Ability to interpret campaign data and make decisions based on performance.
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, contractors, timelines, and competing priorities with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Excellent project management, organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional travel to Key to Change programs, events, schools, and community activities.
Experience with nonprofit organizations, education, arts and culture, youth development, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, WordPress, Mailchimp, Salesforce, photography, video, and conversion testing is a plus.
The Person We're Looking For
You don't have to come from the nonprofit world. You might come from digital marketing, e-commerce, advertising, consumer brands, education, media, entertainment, public relations, or an agency. What matters is that you have substantial professional experience, are curious about audiences, excited by great ideas, visually creative, comfortable with data, and motivated by results.
You should have an appreciation for young people, education, the arts, and the role classical music can play in opening doors and expanding possibilities. You know how to communicate with students and families in ways that feel relevant, contemporary, and authentic without talking down to them or oversimplifying the message. You can also tell those stories in ways that resonate with donors, partners, and the broader community.
We will teach you Key to Change: our mission, students, programs, communities, voice, and aspirations. We are looking for someone who will bring the marketing expertise, professional judgment, creative confidence, and experience necessary to help us reach the next level.
Schedule & Working Environment
This is a full-time, primarily on-site position based in Renton.
This is an active environment with frequent interaction among students, families, instructors, staff, and visitors. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for concerts, special programs, or organizational events.
