Specialty Market Manager
Main Street Farm Market Cafe
Market Manager – Lead, Curate, and Inspire at Main Street Farm
About Us
At Main Street Farm Market & Café, we’re more than just a specialty food market—we’re a community hub and a celebration of thoughtfully sourced food. Nestled in the heart of Livingston Manor, our mission is to connect our customers to high-quality local, regional, and artisanal products in a warm and welcoming environment. As we grow, we’re looking for a dynamic and visionary Market Manager to help us elevate the market experience and build a true selling culture rooted in storytelling, exceptional customer engagement, and smart merchandising.
The Role
This is not your typical Market Manager position. We're looking for a leader, innovator, and tastemaker—someone with the creativity and drive to take our market to the next level. You’ll be the heartbeat of the market, guiding its daily rhythm while bringing fresh ideas to life around product curation, merchandising, seasonal promotions, and customer experience.
We want someone who sees the potential in every display, every product, and every customer interaction—and who’s excited to share that vision with our team and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & Inspire: Oversee all daily market operations while fostering a positive, motivated, and service-focused team culture.
- Merchandise with Intention: Design and execute compelling product displays and storytelling moments throughout the store that highlight our specialty offerings and engage shoppers.
- Buy Like a Pro: Source, select, and manage a diverse and exciting range of high-quality food products—especially local and seasonal—from trusted vendors and artisans.
- Promote with Purpose: Work with our owner and leadership team to design and implement engaging in-store promotions, tagging strategies, signage, and community-focused events.
- Build Relationships: Engage with customers and staff to create a warm and inclusive shopping experience that builds loyalty and trust.
- Streamline & Organize: Oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory management, ensuring well-stocked shelves and minimal waste.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Coordinate with café and kitchen teams for seasonal features, displays, and marketing moments.
- Be Hands-On: Step in to support the team in customer service, stocking, and troubleshooting as needed. No task is too small when building something great.
Who You Are
- An experienced and passionate market manager or buyer from a specialty or natural foods background.
- A strong leader with a gift for mentorship, clear communication, and team motivation.
- A creative merchandiser and storyteller who sees the artistry in retail.
- Organized and solutions-oriented with excellent time management and follow-through.
- Comfortable with POS systems, inventory software, ordering platforms, and vendor relations.
- Excited by the opportunity to help shape and evolve a beloved community market.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.
What We Offer
- Starting at $25/hour, negotiable based on experience
- Transitional housing option: 1-bedroom apartment in Livingston Manor (short- or long-term options)
- A collaborative, values-driven workplace that prioritizes quality, integrity, and community
- The chance to leave your mark on a growing local business with heart
