Job Overview & Responsibilities
The Manager, Marketing Events is responsible for leading the strategy, planning, execution, and analysis of external-facing events such as trade shows, partner events, webinars, and customer engagements. This role supports brand visibility, lead generation, and pipeline growth, overseeing the entire event lifecycle from concept to post-event analysis. The Manager manages staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure successful logistics, communication, and lead follow-up. Collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and OEM partners is essential to align event activities with business goals and maximize ROI.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Event Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage an annual event calendar aligned with marketing and sales objectives, including trade shows, customer events, webinars, and partner events.
- Handle all aspects of event planning and execution: logistics, budgeting, registration, venue, vendors, travel, branding, signage, shipping, and staffing.
- Collaborate with internal teams and OEM partners (e.g., Oracle, Red Hat, Adobe) to identify key events, sponsorships, and co-branded strategies.
- Coordinate with Marketing Communications and Content teams to develop event messaging, presentations, booth experiences, and follow-up campaigns.
Lead Management & Event Technology
- Manage lead capture processes using CRM and marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) before, during, and after events.
- Ensure accurate lead entry, tagging, routing, and follow-up to optimize lead quality and sales enablement.
- Utilize event tech platforms (e.g., registration tools, badge scanners, QR codes) to streamline data collection and enhance attendee experience.
Event Performance & Analytics
- Define and track KPIs such as attendance, engagement, cost per lead, ROI, and pipeline influence.
- Analyze event data and present reports and insights to stakeholders and OEM partners.
- Use insights to improve future events, recommend strategies, and justify investments.
- Manage post-event surveys and feedback to refine strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Partner Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between Marketing, Sales, and OEM/partners for event initiatives.
- Align event strategies with sales priorities and regional needs.
- Manage third-party vendors (A/V, booth builders, caterers) for quality execution.
- Coordinate with content, creative, and digital teams to promote events via email, social media, landing pages, and paid media.
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years in corporate or enterprise event planning, preferably in B2B tech, government, or VAR environments.
- Proven success in managing multi-channel events with measurable business impact.
- Experience with OEM marketing programs and MDF-funded events (e.g., Oracle, Red Hat).
- Leadership and supervisory experience.
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or similar credential is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong project management and organizational skills for multiple simultaneous events.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interfacing with executives and external partners.
- Knowledge of event tools and platforms (e.g., Cvent, Splash, Eventbrite, Zoom/Webinar).
- Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Analytical mindset to interpret metrics and make data-driven decisions.
- Creative thinking with high attention to detail and a customer-first approach.
- Proactive, flexible team player in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team.
