JOB TITLE: Director of Marketing & Communications

PROGRAM AREA: Development

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Director of Marketing and Communications leads the development and execution of Oasis Center's marketing and communications efforts, strengthening organizational visibility, brand consistency, corporate communications, and engagement with donors, partners, community members, and other key audiences. In close partnership with the Vice President of Fund Development & Community Engagement and staff across the organization, this position develops compelling content, manages key communications channels, and helps tell the story of Oasis Center's mission, programs, youth, and impact.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and executes integrated marketing & communications strategies across digital, print, social media, website, email, donor communications, media relations, and other organizational channels.
  • Manages Oasis Center's social media presence, including content planning, creation, scheduling, engagement, and performance monitoring.
  • Develops, writes, edits, and coordinates compelling content for donor communications, newsletters, organizational stories, website content, marketing materials, advertising, and other external communications.
  • Identifies and develops stories that effectively communicate the experiences, accomplishments, and impact of Oasis Center's youth, programs, staff, and community partners while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and dignity.
  • Maintains and strengthens Oasis Center's organizational voice, messaging, visual identity, and brand standards across departments and communications platforms.
  • Develops and supports advertising, promotional, and marketing strategies designed to increase organizational awareness, engagement, event participation, and philanthropic support.
  • Coordinates media and public relations activities, including drafting press releases, responding to routine media inquiries, and supporting organizational announcements and corporate communications.
  • Partners with Development, Program, and Executive Leadership staff to identify communications needs, priorities, stories, and opportunities and translate them into effective audience-centered communications.
  • Monitors communications and marketing performance, audience engagement, and relevant trends and uses available data to recommend improvements to content and strategy.
  • Coordinates external designers, photographers, printers, marketing vendors, or other communications partners as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build strong, caring, and affirming relationships with all youth -including LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Operates with a clear understanding of racial inequities and systemic discrimination, demonstrating a sustained commitment to anti-oppression and equity-centered practices.
  • Applies knowledge of Positive Youth Development, Trauma-Informed Care, and evidence-informed practices grounded in adolescent development.

Administration and Collaboration

  • Maintains organized communications calendars, digital assets, brand materials, project files, and other marketing and communications resources.
  • Works collaboratively across departments to ensure communications are accurate, timely, mission-aligned, and consistent with organizational priorities and brand standards.
  • Participates actively in relevant agency and departmental meetings and supports organizational events, campaigns, and special initiatives as needed.
  • Ensures communications activities adhere to organizational policies, youth privacy and confidentiality standards, copyright requirements, and ethical storytelling practices.

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards

  • Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written, editing, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to adapt content and messaging for different audiences and communications channels.
  • Experience managing social media platforms, website content, email communications, and other digital marketing tools.
  • Strong understanding of branding, storytelling, messaging, and audience engagement.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse staff, leadership, community partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • High level of proficiency with emerging office technology and communications platforms, including Microsoft Office. Experience with website content management systems, email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organization.
