Our client is an Insight Partners backed AI grid-tech company transforming the utilities space and addressing one of the most complex and impactful capacity challenge in decades: the surge of data centers, EV's, and electrification hitting a grid that wasn't built for it. Their intelligence layer allows utilities with a real time model and visibility of their network to unlock capacity. They've already landed one of the top 20 utility providers in the US with pilots underway with 4 more and have grown 4x in the last 6 months. This role will join a growing ~20 person US team to tackle a $8B+ addressable market and report directly to the co-founder.
About the Role: Founding Head of Marketing (Remote)
This is a zero-to-one marketing opportunity for a commercially minded marketer who can connect market strategy to business outcomes. Our client operates in a highly concentrated market where a small number of enterprise accounts represent most of the opportunity. The challenge is understanding where marketing can create the greatest commercial leverage, then building the strategy, programs, and capabilities to turn that insight into pipeline, revenue growth, customer expansion, and market credibility.
What you'll own
- Shape the GTM strategy: Partner closely with the Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer to translate market, customer, and commercial insights into a focused marketing strategy.
- Own product marketing: Develop positioning, messaging, value propositions, competitive narrative, sales plays, and customer-facing materials — translating a highly technical product into compelling business outcomes for diverse utility stakeholders.
- Develop an account-based motion: Build a strategic approach to engaging priority utilities and their buying groups across acquisition, expansion, and advocacy.
- Establish market credibility: Turn customer outcomes and industry insights into thought leadership, customer proof, executive content, events, and a strong voice in the utility ecosystem.
- Stand up the marketing function: Establish the operating model, priorities, KPIs, budget, and resources needed to support the next stage of growth.
- Build and lead the team: Once the strategy and operating model are established, hire and develop the marketing team needed to execute against the highest-priority opportunities and scale the function over time.
- Use AI as leverage: Develop practical AI-enabled workflows for research, account intelligence, content, personalization, and marketing execution.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a strategic, commercially oriented thinker and builder who can connect the dots from market → ICP → buyers → buying dynamics → GTM → marketing strategy → execution.
- MUST be based in PST time zone (California, Washington, Oregon, or British Columbia)
- 8+ years of enterprise marketing experience with deep product marketing experience within complex sales environments
- A strategic, zero-to-one mindset—able to understand the market and buying dynamics, determine where marketing can create the most leverage, build the strategy, and then develop the team and capabilities to execute it.
- A track record of building strategy from first principles rather than applying a conventional marketing playbook
- Proven experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise GTM motions, working closely with Sales and commercial leadership.
- Demonstrated success building strategic account marketing / ABM programs that influence pipeline, opportunity progression and expansion.
- Strong commercial orientation, with experience connecting marketing strategy and investment to pipeline and revenue outcomes.
Compensation
- $200K–$250K base + bonus + meaningful equity
