Our client, a large, highly matrixed financial services organization, is seeking a senior marketing leader to own and evolve its Deposits & Retail Marketing strategy across the consumer banking portfolio. This role will serve as a foundational leader within the broader Consumer organization, with a core mandate to accelerate growth, deepen engagement, and modernize the bank’s data-driven marketing engine for checking and deposit products.

This is a player-coach role with no initial direct reports, requiring a leader who can set strategy while remaining hands-on in execution. In addition to consumer deposits, this role will support small business deposit marketing for businesses with revenues up to $20M. There is strong potential for this position to evolve into a future Head of Retail Marketing role.

This Job Will Have The Following Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end marketing strategy for consumer Deposits and Checking products, with a focus on acquisition, growth, and engagement
• Own product-level marketing across onboarding, lifecycle, activation, retention, and long-term customer value
• Shape and influence the broader Retail Marketing strategy, serving as a strategic anchor within the Consumer organization
• Develop and execute integrated marketing programs across digital, paid media, email, and sales enablement channels
• Lead trigger-based and lifecycle marketing strategies to drive customer activation and sustained engagement
• Set direction for consumer engagement across both owned and public-facing channels
• Partner closely with Compliance, Product, Creative, Retail Banking leadership, and external agencies to ensure alignment and execution
• Manage agency relationships for copywriting support, partnering with internal teams to develop email and campaign content
• Operate as a hands-on strategic leader, comfortable moving between high-level vision and detailed execution
• Provide clarity, stability, and direction within a complex, heavily matrixed enterprise environment
• Influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority
• Support deposit marketing initiatives for the small business segment (≤ $20M in annual revenue)

Qualifications & Requirements

• Extensive experience in retail banking marketing, with deep expertise in deposits and checking products
• Demonstrated success driving acquisition, onboarding, lifecycle, and retention strategies
• Experience operating within large, highly matrixed enterprise organizations
• Strong understanding of regulated financial services environments
• Executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
• Hands-on, operator mindset with comfort executing as well as setting strategy
• Ability to prioritize what matters, pull teams out of the weeds, and create organizational clarity
• Strong business acumen combined with marketing strategy and banking expertise
• Excellent communicator able to simplify complexity and align diverse teams
