Your role as a member of our Pad Squad:
You will primarily be responsible for representing the Padres as a brand ambassador at Padres home games, executing all in-ballpark entertainment programming and delivering promotional messaging through grassroots marketing & community relations efforts.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
- Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently strive to exceed all guests’ expectations
- Embodying the Padres Brand Essence: Fun, Community, Innovative, & Meaningful
- Serving as part of the community marketing “street team” to further Padres’ promotional schedule or initiatives, ticket sales, and/or marketing assets
- Assisting with the Padres in-ballpark pre-game show production, including check-in and escorting of guests, field placement, and cues of people and props
- Performing on-camera promotions and on-stage programming as assigned, interacts with fans throughout the ballpark, enhancing the atmosphere and energy at Petco Park. Performances may include public speaking, live radio interviews, and live videoboard appearances
- Coordinating all in-game entertainment elements and executing gameday show script
- Occasionally performing as costumed characters such as, PETCO’s Blue Mews and/or Red Ruff at Padres home games and community appearances and/or serve as guide and protector to members of the mascot team performing in costume
- Attending numerous community events to gain positive exposure for the Padres, including but not limited to fairs, festivals, and non-profit functions. Working with the Padres Community Relations staff to showcase “Live, Learn, Play, Serve” and Baja region initiatives
- Keeping up with the team’s performance on the field, current organizational news, and demonstrates general baseball and team history knowledge
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
- Being consistent, punctual, and having reliable attendance
- Being comfortable performing activities and interacting with fans on camera in front of large crowds (40,000+ fans)
- Being bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not necessary
- Having effective communication skills, a friendly and engaging personality, poise, confidence, and a well-rounded skillset
- Having the strong ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
- Having knowledge of the game of baseball
- Having performing arts, public speaking, entertainment, and production experience preferred
- Having previous experience working in military; college; or Hispanic communities is a plus but not necessary
You will be required to meet the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
- Minimum physical requirements: Ability to stand, walk and/or run for extended periods of time during games and events
- Available to work during 75% of Padres home games and 75% of other community & special events as needed, including weekends, some midweek day games, and holidays
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout San Diego County as needed
- As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check.
Salary and Additional Compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law, the pay rate for this position is $20.42 per hour. Part- time non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Living Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
