Job Overview:
This critical role requires demonstrated market experience, strategic vision and leadership that is in line with the company’s vision, mission, and values. The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is responsible for driving sales success while delivering maximum growth and profitability. This role is responsible for directing and managing distribution and channel strategies, product pricing, sales compensation, market competitiveness with CEO oversight. The CRO must display “hand-on experience” in the employee benefits business to successfully guide the distribution, marketing, and sales strategy.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Leadership
- Recruit, train, develop and retain a team of professionals to support sales growth – both strategic and tactical functionality.
- Lead development of marketing solutions and distribution channels that drive product profitability and mitigate risk.
- Develop and direct sales and distribution strategies, establishing milestones, product pricing, and distribution channels.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Ensures alignment with overall organizational values, goals, mission and vision.
- Oversee the sales and marketing team compensation plans.
- Collaborate with colleagues in operations and finance to share the excitement around strategic sales and marketing initiatives.
Revenue
- Develop Revenue Strategy. Develop and implement key marketing, sales, and customer service programs to grow the customer base and gain sustainable revenue. Work closely with Operations and Finance to implement profitable and effective marketing and sales programs.
- A track record of creating alliances to leverage synergies and create win-win situations is critical for the CRO position. This executive must have experience building relationships with partner companies that extend the brand offering.
- Customer Identification & Retention. The Chief Revenue Officer must have solid experience with owning the sales and marketing functions in relation to both customer acquisition and loyalty-building programs. This executive will need to bring a strategic approach to identifying and capturing profitable growth targets with the defined KPIs and ROI.
- The successful candidate will have led a sales and marketing team that successfully grew a business to critical mass. This includes the fundamental sales disciplines of cold calling, maintaining an opportunity pipeline large enough ro meet the annual revenue targets.
- Service-Industry Exposure. The Chief Revenue Officer must understand the dynamics of working in a high-touch service industry where the customer and channel dynamics drive the business.
Marketing
- Marketing Strategy. The successful candidate will have led the process to develop marketing plans with the objective of growing a business. This executive must have proven experience thinking out of the box to identify target markets and segments through the most effective channels. This includes strong experience with web-based, partner, channel, and benefits industry initiatives.
- Lead direct marketing activities.
- Provide leadership to all marketing efforts, including the branding and communication associated with new product and service launches, and will lead the development of all channels.
- Identify and implement strategic marketing initiatives and create partnerships.
- Conduct market research to assess product performance and identify potential customers and promotion opportunities.
- Collaborate with CTO and R&D teams to implement consumer needs within product development and marketing strategies.
Experience
- Minimum of two years sales management service in the benefits, insurance or financial services industry. Other industries will be considered if directly related to the employee benefits business,
- Entrepreneurial business track-record that demonstrates ability to drive growth, think strategically and build the business over time.
