This senior leadership role combines strategic, creative, and operational responsibilities, with a focus on scaling design capabilities and integrating design thinking into IT solutions and marketing services. Reporting to senior leadership, the Executive Design Director will oversee multidisciplinary teams, drive innovation, and build out studio capabilities, starting in the NY hub and potentially expanding globally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Vision and Strategy: Define and implement a design vision that aligns with business goals and emerging industry trends.
- Innovation: Foster a forward-thinking design culture by incorporating cutting-edge practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior leaders across strategy, operations, and technology functions.
Design Management
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire creative teams, including UX/UI designers and graphic designers.
- Process Optimization: Establish efficient design workflows to ensure quality and consistency.
- Studio Development: Scale and replicate studio capabilities in multiple regions.
Project Oversight
- Delivery Excellence: Oversee the creation of high-quality, end-to-end design solutions for clients.
- Client Engagement: Partner with clients to deliver designs that meet their strategic goals.
Business Development
- Growth Support: Contribute to client acquisition through proposals, pitches, and presentations.
- Market Insights: Identify opportunities for new services through market research.
Operational Leadership
- Resource Allocation: Manage resources to balance workloads and meet project deadlines.
- Performance Tracking: Define and monitor KPIs to ensure continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree: In Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (required).
- Master’s Degree: In Design Management or Business Administration (preferred).
Experience
- 15+ years in design, including 7+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record in technology and marketing services industries.
- Portfolio showcasing diverse, impactful design projects.
Skills
- Creative and Strategic Thinking: Exceptional ability to align creative vision with business objectives.
- Leadership: Experienced in managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
