About the Role:
The Content Marketing Manager role sits within the Social Media and Content team within the larger Marketing organization at Gen, and will create and manage long format content creation and social media content for defined set of initiatives across multiple consumer brands.
This role will report to the Head of Social Media & Integrated Marketing and is primarily focused on writing long format blog content in support of key activities as well as defining how to extend that content across social media platforms for multiple brands.
This role will work closely with internal stakeholders across the business – specifically the PR and communications team, product and engineering team and social media and influencer team, focused on supporting in the moment content creation and extension. Much of the content ideation will stem from PR and product teams including cyber threat trends, telemetry summarization & storytelling, and cybersecurity news. This person will be responsible for partnering with stakeholders to understand the corporate POV on these topics and figuring out how to develop consumer friendly stories based on pre-defined topics. Storytelling will typically begin with long format blog writing that this roll will be responsible for creating, as well as building & executing comprehensive communication plans for the stories across our earned and owned channels. This role will work closely with the larger social media team at Gen, developing social assets to support the stories and scheduling and publishing in line with brand specific content calendars.
This role will also be responsible for monitoring news stories and trends and recommending additional topics for storytelling to PR and product while spearheading story creation for these topics. This person will also support other Social Media Managers on the team with ideation and asset creation as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a background in content marketing, be an exceptional writer and storyteller and understand the entirety of a content ecosystem. You should be familiar with how content and social media strategy fits into a broader marketing plan. Exceptional communication skills are essential, and you should be comfortable working independently with guidance from your manager and as part of a cross-functional team.
You must have a proactive mindset, be detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. The right candidate will be an exceptional storyteller, writer, and someone with a creative eye for engaging social media content.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for supporting the Social Media team with various tasks specifically focused on long format blog writing and social media content creation, project management, bringing ideas to the team that support social strategy of driving engagement across platforms. You will also work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external agencies to create compelling content that resonates with our audience and aligns with broader marketing goals. This role will provide exposure to the entire social media team and process and will be a great opportunity for growth and learning.
Specific job duties include:
- Partnering with PR to understand their content calendar and how to take corporate level initiatives & stories and make them consumer friendly across our cybersecurity brands – Norton, LifeLock & Avast
- Partnering with our product and research team to understand threat trends and craft them into consumer friendly stories leading with long format blog writing
- Responsible to outline, write and edit long format content that’s engaging and compelling to consumers
- Understanding each brand and audience to make recommendations of which stories should be promoted within each brand
- Building comprehensive communication plans across social media to amplify long format blog content with snackable social content
- Consistently monitoring emerging cyber security news stories and trends and making recommendations to PR and social team about storytelling ideas that drive consumer engagement and interest in our brands
- Responsible for all “rapid response” activations (breaches, hacks, etc) across long format content and social media in partnership with PR and media
- Supporting evergreen content creation (specifically blog writing) as needed based on social media team volume
- Partnering with content agency as needed to support blog content creation and partnering with internal and external creative teams to develop social content
- Supporting content strategy development with manager
- Assist with end-to-end production of social media content, from ideation to execution, for Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, and other relevant platforms
- Support reporting on blog and content performance
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in content and social media marketing, especially within the tech and cybersecurity industry, and recommend opportunities to improve our content mix
- Responsible for localization and translation of blog content as needed with support from localization team
- Managing blog posting process via Jira ticketing system & direct publishing via Hubspot
- Other activities as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Exceptional writing skills, specifically with blog format
- 3-5 years of experience in content or social media at a large company or agency
- Familiarity with Meta platforms (Facebook & Instagram), including boosting organic content and managing ad campaigns
- Understanding of social media & content strategies and trends within the tech or cybersecurity space
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with various team
- Creative eye with attention to detail
- Familiarity with social media analytics tools and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
- Process and timeline driven, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
