Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and detailed-oriented Assistant Designer to join our Product Development Team on-site, 5 days a week. The Assistant Designer will play a crucial role in supporting our design and production processes, ensuring that our functional and innovative designs are brought to life with precision and excellence. Position is temporary with opportunity to become full-time.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Assist lead designer to research brick & mortar stores and and online for new trends. Search and preparation of color/trend reports for designer and merchandiser
- Order samples for product, sales, and marketing teams
- Attend Fit Sessions, take photos and detailed notes . Follow up with tech pack adjustments as needed
- Keen eye for color and ability to approve lab dips and strike offs
- Organize and maintain fabric library
- Maintain and update seasonal brand line sheets
- Daily communications with vendors and factories
- Cut and send swatches to mills for fabric and trim sourcing and development
Records & Maintenance:
- Record and maintain tech pack updates within PLM system
- Record and maintain fabric testing files
- Log and track sample orders by style in google sheets and/or PLM system
- Record and maintain comments and approvals of lab dips, trims, strike offs, etc.
- Track and analyze wear test comments in google sheets
- Attend line review and cross functional meeting and take detailed notes
Digital Development:
- Collaborate and assist in print research and original artwork creation of repeat prints
- Assist in sketching ,colored CAD, and detailed technical sketch creation with direction from lead designer
- Assist in creating original and detailed artworks for trims
Fabric & Trend Reseach & Developent:
- Research new fabrications for program specific concepts while adhereing to production and costing requirements
- Research, analyze and develop new functional finishes based on style-specific design intention and continuous improvement to core fabric qualities, including internal testing, customer feedback reports, tracking of headers
- Collaborate with design and merchandising team members to source and develop new fabrics
- Assist in ref. sample ordering and wear testing processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel and Production Development or closely related field
- 6 months + of design assistant experience through internship or industry experience
- Proficiency in Adoby Illustrator, Photoshop is a plus
- Working knowledge of garment construction techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in record keeping and technical sketches with support from lead designer
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive programs
- Strong communication, organization and time-management skills
