Work Schedule: 15-20 hours per week; shifts based on operational need of the organization. MUST be available to work fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters, some nights and weekends. This position will work both on campus with the potential of performing some work hours remotely.

Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 26,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. Founded in 1995, award-winning Marketing, Design & Public Relations (MDPR) is one of the most respected Marketing groups at Cal Poly Pomona. Some of the services the team provides are logo design, brochure design, digital bulletin boards advertisements, and event/program poster design.
POSITION DEFINITION
Under general supervision from the Digital Media Manager, the Photo Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Photographers. This role involves leading team meetings, project oversight, feedback, team guidance, photography program planning, training, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. The supervisor performs routine and non-routine tasks requiring specialized knowledge, prior relevant experience, and considerable independent judgement and decision-making to assist with advertising campaigns and facilitating marketing initiatives.
Essential Duties
- Provide direct supervision, and assist with the recruitment, selection, training, development, and evaluation of photographers
- Hosts weekly one-on-one meetings with Photographers
- Leads weekly Photographer Team meetings and prepares and files meeting agendas
- Serves as designated photographer for ASI events, publications, digital media, and news-based opportunities
- Reviews content and provides recommendations to the Digital Media Manager for final project approval
- Responsible for recruitment and training of student staff
- Approves Photographers timecards and schedules
- Plans and schedules photo shoots and coordination with subjects and stakeholders
- Works closely with internal and external partners on content creation
- Assists the Digital Media Manager with the coordination of photography related ASI programming, including, but not limited to, program proposals, event planning, location reservations, creation of marketing materials, coordination of staff schedules, calendar invites, communication requests, etc.
- Assist the Digital Media Manager with the project management of photography requests and setting timelines for photo editing
- Brainstorm and execute photography that support and elevate the ASI brand
- Assists in creating content for promotional materials in a timely manner and in collaboration with the marketing staff
- Attend in-person/on-campus events to capture photos for use in marketing projects
- Operate photo equipment and make technical decisions regarding appropriate lighting, composition, etc.
- Provide care and maintenance of ASI-owned photographic and studio equipment
- Develop and maintain photo archives
- Assist in the development and administration of marketing campaign strategies
- Provide administrative support as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 6-months of leadership and oversight experience, required
- 1-year photography and photo editing experience required
- Demonstrated experience using Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, required
- Demonstrated experience with photography equipment and techniques, including but not limited to, professional grade digital cameras, color correction/grading, lighting, set-up for multi-camera productions, required
- Demonstrated experience in portrait photography, required
- Experience with professional photography equipment, required (Canon and Sony, preferred)
- Experience with professional photography equipment, required
- Understanding of Digital Asset Management platforms, preferred
- Experience in marketing, communications, and/or public relations, preferred
- Demonstrated creative ability as shown through a submitted portfolio of creative work
- Ability to lead, mentor, and provide constructive critique
- Ability to schedule and coordinate photography requests
- Self-motivated with strong organization and critical thinking skills
- Ability to operate a computer workstation using word processing, spreadsheet and other computer applications
- Desire to learn about marketing and advertising

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY
Employment with ASI is open to any Cal Poly Pomona student who is eligible to work and has the legal right to work in the United States. In addition, student employees must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) and 4.0 units (graduate), international student employees must be enrolled in a minimum of 12.0 units (undergraduate) and 6.0 units (graduate) at the end of the add-drop period. Student employees are required to have a minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing with the University. Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire. Exceptions to the unit load requirement are allowed during the summer term and for students who have applied for graduation for the current term.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear; manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and verbal communication; use of office equipment: telephones, calculator, copier and fax. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 45 pounds.
