The Role - Vice President of Marketing Analytics and Operations
We are on the lookout for an extraordinary Vice President of Marketing Analytics and Operations to partner with the CMO in reshaping our marketing organization through data-driven insights and operational excellence. This newly established role will be instrumental in building and leading a premier marketing analytics and insights team while laying the infrastructure, processes, and measurement capabilities that will spur our strategic growth.
As an essential member of the marketing leadership team, you will design our marketing analytics function from the ground up, implementing robust measurement frameworks that clearly demonstrate ROI to executive stakeholders and technology partners. This role requires a visionary leader capable of balancing strategic thinking with effective execution in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This position welcomes candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone, particularly those based in the Boston, MA area.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Build and Lead the Analytics Organization.
- Design and develop a top-tier marketing analytics and insights team, focusing on hiring, training, and talent management.
- Establish a strategic vision and roadmap for marketing analytics capabilities and infrastructure.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the marketing organization through training and process development.
Executive Collaboration & Strategic Planning
- Act as the strategic partner to the CMO by providing data-driven insights that influence key business decisions.
- Collaborate with C-suite executives to translate business goals into measurable marketing outcomes.
- Lead monthly reviews with executive leadership, presenting comprehensive performance analyses and strategic recommendations.
Revenue Operations & Growth Optimization
- Work closely with Sales Operations to enhance the customer acquisition funnel from lead generation to revenue realization.
- Develop and implement attribution models that accurately explain marketing's contribution to revenue.
- Design A/B testing frameworks to continually optimize marketing performance across channels.
Marketing Technology & Infrastructure Leadership
- Oversee and refine the complete marketing technology stack, ensuring seamless integration and maximum ROI.
- Implement marketing technologies that enhance data collection, analysis, and activation.
- Establish data governance frameworks and ensure adherence to privacy regulations.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Build comprehensive marketing dashboards and reporting infrastructure from inception.
- Develop standardized KPIs and measurement frameworks across marketing channels.
- Create automated reporting systems for real-time marketing performance tracking.
Financial Management
- Manage the marketing budget planning and reconciliation process, collaborating with Finance for accuracy.
- Oversee partner operations, tracking MDF (Market Development Fund) allocations and ROI reporting.
- Develop comprehensive ROI models to demonstrate marketing's impact on stakeholders.
Process Design & Implementation
- Assess and enhance current marketing operations by implementing scalable processes.
- Design workflows for lead management, campaign operations, and performance tracking.
- Establish and maintain data quality standards across marketing systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Forge strong partnerships with Sales, Finance, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure aligned goals.
- Lead monthly financial reconciliation meetings to ensure budget accuracy.
- Collaborate with legal teams to guarantee compliance in analytics practices.
Key Success Metrics
- Development of comprehensive marketing attribution and ROI measurement.
- Implementation of real-time marketing performance dashboards.
- Effective partner ROI reporting and MDF optimization.
- Building and nurturing a high-performing analytics organization.
- High stakeholder satisfaction and strategic influence.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; MBA or advanced degree in Analytics or related field preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in marketing operations and analytics, with at least 7 years in leadership roles.
- Proven ability to build and scale analytics teams in high-growth technology companies.
- Success in implementing marketing technology and measurement frameworks.
- Experience managing multi-million dollar marketing budgets and partner relations.
- Strong statistical analysis and data modeling background.
- Advanced proficiency in analytics platforms like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Understanding of CRM and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo, Pardot).
- Experience with attribution modeling, predictive analytics, and statistical methods.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience in team growth.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Outstanding communication skills and experience in C-level presentations.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills leading complex initiatives.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications in marketing analytics, project management, or technology platforms.
