This position will have remote and hybrid workplace options available but will still be required to report to the listed address at the discretion of the supervisor and based on business need.
This position will be hybrid and required to work in the office at least 1 day per month.

The Office of the Future of Work (OFW) works to understand, prepare for, and develop effective policy and programmatic solutions to support Coloradans in today and tomorrow’s changing economy. The OFW works in partnership with other state departments and convenes task forces and summits with diverse stakeholders across different regions to explore the topic. Registered apprenticeship continues to be a high priority for the
Governor and is a key focus of the CDLE Executive Director. The OFW oversees the State Apprenticeship Agency (referred to as Apprenticeship Colorado) which promotes and supports registered apprenticeship programs in Colorado. The OFW administers USDOL-funded apprenticeship expansion grants to increase career and education pathways for jobseekers and students to high-wage careers, with an emphasis on historically excluded populations. Apprenticeship Colorado has total functional responsibility over statewide operation, procedures, and activities as they relate to registered apprenticeship programs. The OFW also leads the state’s Digital Equity, Literacy and Inclusion Initiative which works across state agencies and community partners to close the digital divide through the creation and implementation of the state’s digital equity plan and the implementation of a statewide Digital Navigator Program. The OFW is responsible for raising awareness of the future of work trends through regular presentations, articles, and research projects.
Responsibilities
The Communications Associate will be responsible for directly supporting the Digital Equity Team's strategies that involve marketing and communications. Key activities include:
- Creating digital and print(able) materials to support the work of the Digital Equity Coalitions.
- Creating Digital Equity specific promotional materials.
- Supporting the day-to-day work of the Office of the Future of Work's (OFW) Communications Manager.
- Developing and implementing OFW’s Digital Equity communications strategy.
- Create and coordinate content for CDLE social media accounts (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook).
- Managing email marketing campaigns through GovDelivery.
- Updating OFW Digital Equity webpages using Drupal.
- Supporting the development of marketing/promotional/training videos through GPPR staff and contractors.
- Copy-edit reports, strategic updates, grant reports, and grant applications.
- Copy-editing written communications across the Digital Equity team to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Working with partners to develop co-branded content and ensure alignment.
- Managing events related to Digital Equity and access.
This position also supports the OFW Director and Digital Equity Manager as needed in executive requests to support EDO, Governor, legislature, or state peers and must be comfortable presenting complex information in concise written and graphical form. The position exists to:
- Develop Strategic Communications in Support of Digital Access Expansion: At the direction of the Digital Equity Manager, and in collaboration with the subject matter staff, this position creates, deploys, and measures effectiveness of a statewide strategy on the value of digital access to key stakeholders. Communications must align with values of OFW, synthesize data and research, and incorporate principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in digital access.
- Shape Communications Strategy and Implementation for Colorado's Digital Access Plan: At the direction of the Digital Equity Manager, this position will be the lead in Communications on awareness of the Colorado Digital Access Plan. The position will work with the Digital Equity Manager/OFW Communications Manager to develop a marketing and social media strategy, collaborate with program staff on communication of technical documents to support the Colorado Digital Access Plan, and develop and deploy messaging and materials to support the work of Digital Equity coalitions.
- Serve as Project Lead for Digital Equity Team Communications: This position is the communications project coordinator, writer for the Digital Equity team, and identifies appropriate visual content and format to support communications goals. This position serves as the content reviewer/project coordinator for all communications out of the Digital Equity Team. Position reviews content from subject matter experts to create a single voice for the Digital Equity Team, ensure quality standards, and ensure content is user-friendly, accessible, and concise. The position liaises with the agency Government, Policy, & Public Relations (GPPR) and, if applicable, manages external communications contracts.

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with email marketing campaigns and website content management systems, particularly GovDelivery and Drupal
- Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder communications and developing co-branded content
- Experience and track record of managing multiple concurrent communications projects while meeting deadlines
- Experience with creating digital content that is accessible for users with disabilities
- Prior experience in digital equity, workforce development, or public sector communications
Required Competencies
- Marketing & Communications: Possesses a thorough knowledge of marketing and communication concepts as well as their application. Knowledge and skills to operate Google Suite or similar, Drupal web content management system or similar, GovDelivery email marketing system or similar, and social media tools.
- Writing & Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with state agency partners, local stakeholders, Digital Equity partners, and other stakeholders through various written and digital tools. Synthesize complex information and communicate in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Ability to clearly articulate specific needs and develop concepts for graphic design collateral.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively and build coalitions with key stakeholders, speak and write authoritatively and compellingly, resolve communication problems, and negotiate and manage competing interests. Ability to work well with constituents regardless of position and authority, contribute to governing boards and committees, and adhere to clear lines of responsibility and accountability.
- Critical Thinking : Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Complex Problem Solving: Take initiative to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options, consider alternative solutions, distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information, and use sound reasoning to arrive at data-driven decisions. Approach work with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
- Driving Results: Ability to meet organizational and grant goals as well as customer expectations. Ability to work, coordinate activities, and ensure effective performance while operating within strict time constraints and competing priorities.
