Strategic Planning is foundational to the Emerson management process where we look for high potential candidates with strong leadership capabilities to learn the business, grow, and contribute to the organization from day one. The Strategic Planning team at Discrete Automation works closely with our executive leadership team to develop and execute growth and change management strategies across business functions from technology to sales, business development, marketing, operations, human resources, supply chain, and more. This role has strong connectivity throughout the entire global Discrete Automation organization and also will work with complimentary planning roles at the Emerson enterprise level. The Strategic Planner position provides a tremendous opportunity for a candidate to join or elevate their career within Emerson.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Supporting major management events such as executive leadership meetings, quarterly business reviews, strategy reviews, and value creation conferences
- Studying industries, geographical markets, customers, technologies, channels, acquisition candidates, and any other field in support of organic or inorganic business development
- Creating and communicating insights for the organization around our competitor and customer strategies and performance
- Working closely with multiple different functions, businesses and world areas to understand, support, and lead strategic programs
- Developing and presenting business strategies at an executive level
- Setting priorities and coordinating planning activities across all business units and world areas
- Recruiting and developing new Strategic Planners and assist with the smooth transition of projects

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, a technical field, or a related discipline
- Three to ten years of related experience.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Works well leading teams in matrix environment
- Project management experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, Power BI
- Able to travel up to 20% of the time
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
- MBA or other master’s degree preferred
- Prior experience in marketing, sales, engineering, consulting, technology, or industry operations is a strong preference
