Role Summary/Purpose:
Reporting to the SVP, Brand, the VP, Brand Marketing will design and execute a forward-thinking marketing strategy to strengthen Synchrony’s brand equity, expand market share, and drive sustainable business growth. This leader will play a pivotal role in amplifying Synchrony’s presence in the financial services industry by ensuring all marketing initiatives align with organizational objectives and the brand strategy to deliver measurable results.
This role demands a dynamic combination of strategic vision, data-driven decision-making, creative problem-solving, and innovative brand positioning. The VP, Brand Marketing must be an exceptional communicator and inspiring team leader, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams within a highly matrixed organization to achieve Synchrony’s ambitious goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that elevates Synchrony’s brand awareness, drives sustainable business growth, and strengthens market share across the financial services industry.
- Align marketing strategies with Synchrony’s corporate objectives, ensuring resonance with both B2B and B2C audiences.
- Translate consumer insights, market research, and competitive analysis into actionable strategies to inform campaign development, product positioning, and brand initiatives.
- Define and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts, using analytics to optimize performance and guide future strategies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Consumer Engagement & Brand, Sales, Product, and Corporate Affairs, to develop complementary marketing plans that drive alignment and impact.
- Review and refine paid media strategies, ensuring they are seamlessly integrated into the broader marketing strategy and deliver maximum ROI.
- Develop and manage marketing budgets, allocating resources strategically to maximize impact and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the SVP, Brand on quarterly and annual planning, providing marketing insights to support enterprise-wide objectives.
- Serve as a champion of Synchrony’s brand, fostering innovation in marketing approaches and ensuring consistency across all channels and touchpoints.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school equivalent and 15+ years of brand strategy that includes:
- 10+ years of experience in content strategy, brand marketing, or brand storytelling roles, preferably within large-scale enterprises or agencies.
- 5+ Years experience in SEO, content production, and organic social media strategy.
- 3+ years in roles that require balance between strategic vision and operational excellence, delivering both creative and business results.
- Keen understanding of paid digital and traditional media with proven ability and agility to optimize investments to reach brand/campaign objectives
- Strong track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving collaborative success.
- Deep understanding of audience insights and the ability to translate them into impactful content.

Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is
150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
