As Associate Creative Director for Strum, you are a master communicator, a brilliant conceptor, a formidable designer, and a highly effective team leader. You lead the development of our marketing and advertising campaigns — working closely with Strum’s Principal Creative Director and Director of Brand Identity.
You see through complex problems, find a creative solution, and wrap it with a story. You have an intuitive feel for design and copy. You know how to make them work together. You lead a small team of designers and writers — mentoring and guiding them along the way. But you’re not just a manager, you’re a creator. It’s a player-coach kind of thing. You design. You write. This is a remote position. Strum is based in Seattle. The right candidate could come from anywhere, but needs to be available during west coast business hours (8:30am – 5:30pm PT).
What you'll do:
- Work alongside Principal Creative Director and Director of Brand Identity to concept and oversee the creation of advertising and marketing campaigns
- Bring passion and creativity to any assignment
- Build effective integrated campaigns across a variety of mediums — frequently including digital display, direct mail, outdoor, video — your work will encompass all of it
- Generate compelling concepts with your skills in art direction, design and copywriting
- Lead designers and copywriters to create great work
- Manage the creative process: You'll have many balls in the air at once, and you’ll keep things flowing smoothly, continually reviewing and optimizing every piece of creative work your team produces
- Build presentation decks in Keynote
- Present to clients and stakeholders — many of whom are not creative
- Advocate for the creative work, while listening, building consensus, and adapting as needed
- Collaborate with account team to understand business objectives and client expectations
- Continue to learn and push yourself
- Work with Principal Creative Director to lead and guide the creative team
- Provide leadership/motivation and convey the vision and values of the agency
- Demonstrate high work ethic
Qualifications:
- Proven conceptual and design skills
- 8+ years as a creative professional, with at least 3+ leading a creative team as ACD or equivalent
- Expertise in Adobe CC
- Working knowledge of Keynote
- Ability to gracefully manage multiple projects, revisions and timelines
- Comfortable working remote: effective self-starter, can make progress independently, but also comfortable with remote collaboration
- Passionate attitude and enthusiasm
- Fun, creative energy
- Critical eye for details

- Even though we’re remote, a tight-knit culture is important to us — we thrive as a connected team — you will be an important part of our culture
- We typically do a couple in-person team events in Seattle every year — we’ll fly you in if you live out of the area
- We have clients all over the country — almost all of our creative presentations are remote, but infrequent work travel may be required — this will be limited
Salary range for this position is $110,000 – $130,000 DOE and includes the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k match, and generous PTO.
