Kanahoma, a San Diego-based performance marketing agency, is seeking an Account Director to join our small, but fast-growing marketing team. Founded in 2020 by education marketer Seth Odell, Kanahoma has quickly grown to serve over a dozen clients across both the education and nonprofit industries.
As an Account Director with Kanahoma, you will be a critical member of our Account Services team, responsible for leading strategy development, overseeing performance management, serve as senior relationship manager, and track project management initiatives on behalf of a dedicated book of agency business.

The Account Director (AD) serves as the primary liaison and main point-of-contact between Kanahoma and its partners. The AD helps drive partnership strategy and ensures projects meet partner expectations and are delivered on time and within budget. The AD leads all partner meetings/presentations and ensures alignment and a shared understanding of partnership goals and objectives.
The Account Director will be responsible for:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with our partner points of contact and leadership
- Lead and/or assist the internal team in pitches/presentations to partners
- Create account strategies, leading projects from conception to completion
- Establish and set clear expectations (goals/outcomes) with internal teams and partners
- Help ensure on-time delivery of services/deliverables using Asana
- Accurately represent the partner and their feedback/concerns to the internal team
- Provide support and “air cover” for the internal team when representing them to partners
- Navigate tough and sometimes unpleasant conversations with partners with professionalism
- Know and own (working with controller) partner revenue forecast/actuals
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (in communications, marketing, public relations or journalism a plus)
- 3-5+ years in Account Services, agency and/or education experience strongly preferred
- Higher education experience strongly preferred (marketing / recruitment / enrollment)
- Effectively prioritize time and balance multiple projects/requests at one time
- Creatively and collaboratively solve problems
- Lead and mentor teammates
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written
- Effectively utilize Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Experience with project management software (especially Asana) a plus
The Specifics
- Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 (based on experience)
- Location: San Diego candidates strongly preferred, but it is not required.
- Remote: This is a fully remote WFH position. Candidates must reside in and be eligible to work in the United States.
