Summary
The VP of Global Programming & Content Strategy oversees the development and production of conferences and events across the C5 Group of companies. The VP guides Production and the Divisional Directors on new conference topic generation, growth strategy for existing markets, and identifies opportunity for yields, margins and add-on product offerings. This role fosters collaboration and connection amongst the production staff and drives innovation in program development in cooperation with Marketing and Sales. Working collaboratively with the Executive Team, this role shapes the direction and growth of the product lines to meet both the short and long-term needs of the markets we serve.

The core areas of responsibility included:
STRATEGY/FINANCE
- Lead company's global production planning and execution of content and market strategies to build new products, grow existing products and contribute to company growth.
- Guide content development, community development, product line expansion and the launch of industry-leading products to serve new and under-developed markets.
- Offer strategic oversight on divisional strategy, budget planning, topic generation, market expansion and scheduling.
- Work towards revenue goals as established in partnership with the COO.
- Set delegate and add-on product targets and manage production incentive structures and payout approvals.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
- Lead, promote and oversee quality control in all production functions including lead-times and productivity.
- Oversee Product Leads process for new topic and event generation and existing product validation.
- Identify revenue growth opportunities in new and existing market segments.
- Ensure C5 program agendas offer compelling content, best-in-class speakers and address pressing topics validated through market research.
- Focus on C5 speaker client relationship management, customer experience and community development.
MANAGEMENT
- Assess workloads, product development timelines and ideal launch to market goals. Evaluate management recommendations for the addition of new production staff.
- Work collaboratively with the sales, production and marketing teams to develop creative outreach strategies to attract and retain clients.
- Utilize strong research and analytical skills to identify emerging gaps or opportunities in the marketplace.
- Conduct competitive and SWOT analysis and stay abreast of market trends and industry dynamics that may impact the day-to-day operations of the business.
- Collaborate with members of the C5 team to ensure an excellent client experience across all client interactions from needs assessment through delivery and follow up.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts within and outside of the company.
- Update and maintain production training tools and available resources to accurately reflect expectations for performance, brand and company messaging.
- Train, coach, mentor and manage senior production staff.
- Travel and participate in business conferences and meetings as required.
- Work in partnership with HR / Recruitment to ensure strong recruitment.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree; JD or LLB required
- Minimum of 15 years business experience, including at least 10 years in team management, preferably in a corporate setting with knowledge of the legal and business communities.
- 10-15 years Conference Industry experience required
- Proven track record of successful conference topic generation and conference launches and/or portfolio/vertical launch to success
- Proven success as a Conference Producer
- Experience managing multi-million $ financials, with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Excellent English writing skills; proficiency in French and Spanish is an asset.
- A willingness to work evenings and weekends and the ability to travel internationally, sometimes on short notice, is required.
