The Senior Coordinator of Events is responsible for the planning and execution of a portfolio of First Tee’s national participant opportunities designed for teens ages 14-18, including tournament golf events and multi-day leadership-focused academies. The position will also support the Events team overall, assisting with administrative and logistical duties as assigned. The position requires impeccable attention to detail, knowledge and experience of running golf events and strong communication skills to work with guest speakers, sponsors, Chapters, teens and their parents. The position works closely with other departments within First Tee including Brand Communications and Corporate Partnerships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing or Communications.
- 4 or more years of event management experience or golf tournament operations
- Knowledge and experience with golf events and/or tournaments.
- Impeccable attention to detail and experience managing projects through the full lifecycle (pre-planning, on-site logistics, post evaluation), and strong analytical skills to drive positive results.
- Highly motivated, self-starter and willingness to take an active leadership role
- Experiencing contracting vendors and managing event budgets
- Efficiency, multi-tasking and time management
- Ability to work and communicate in a team atmosphere
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Open to giving and receiving feedback for improvement and development
- Positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure
- Fiscally responsible and proactive as it relates to managing expenses
- Youth development or junior coaching/instruction experience a plus
- MS Office, Salesforce, SM Apply experience a plus
- Knowledge of and/or exposure to First Tee is preferred
- Travel is required for this position
Responsibilities/Duties
- Coordinates a portfolio of First Tee national participant opportunities. Responsibilities include managing pre-event planning, on-site logistics, contracting vendors, managing event budget, communication with internal and external partners and Chapters and post-event evaluation.
- Schedules and leads planning calls with stakeholders to finalize decisions according to timeline.
- Works with Brand Communication team on plan to capture content to support storytelling at events
- Responsible for event budget, including submitting all event expenses on time with contracted vendors, and detailed post-event reconciliation.
- Creates event recap reports and leads discussion on improvement plans for future years. Shares event overview/recaps with key stakeholders.
- Evaluates participant feedback to uncover innovative ideas and strategies to improve participant experience on-site and overall event logistics.
- Coordinates applications, review process, final participant selections and field announcements on schedule.
- Oversees the collection and tracking of participant metrics throughout the year and prepares end of year reports for annual meetings.
- Responsible for detailed documentation using Survey Monkey Apply and Salesforce, among other tools.
- Leads online webinars reviewing event logistics for selected participants and chapter representatives via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- Collaborates with advancement team to identify sponsorable opportunities at national opportunities and events.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
