Job Summary
The
Senior Vice President/Vice President, Brand Strategy in Marketing and Innovation works at the intersection of client challenges and creative campaigns to build powerful, engaging brands rooted in sharp clinical expertise.
As the leader of the group of Strategists and other supervisory-level strategist staff, the SVP/VP, Strategy is a puzzle solver and an exemplar for the entire team, overseeing a staff of strategists and engagement specialists to shape and direct the group’s short- and long-term objectives. Both by overseeing multiple brands and groups, and by working as an integral part of Calcium+Company’s new business efforts, this person helps those who are newer to the business become acquainted with how to probe the “Why?” behind brands and different potential strategic and engagement approaches, generate new ideas and perspectives, and form provocative solutions that may not have been considered before. From here, the SVP/VP, Strategy oversees the implementation of these solutions through a mix of hands-on work and adept direction, ensuring over the long-term that the overall strategic approach remains on-target and delivers optimal results to Calcium+Company’s clients.

Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)
Strategic Leadership
- Group leadership: Oversees strategic direction for multiple brands and groups; leads strategy team to actively shape team goals and objectives, contribute to timelines and planning exercises, and solicit the best thinking from cross-disciplinary team leaders
- Facilitation: Engages agency teams, partners, and clients in unique facilitated discussions, bespoke workshops, and exercises in support of brand initiatives
- Lead internal growth: Identifies and shapes relevant trainings or tools, frameworks, and resources to improve our work in partnership with department and agency leadership
- Thought leadership: Identifies and develops unique, provocative narratives and opportunities to advance the department and agency’s agendas
- Business development: Actively leads new business teams regularly in pitch work and organic opportunities
- Team building: Foster an environment of curiosity and learning within the department and agency, including mentorship and direct management of multiple team members
- Fiscal responsibility: Ensures project scopes and resources are allocated appropriately, including staffing plans and structures
- Partnership development: Regularly solicits, engages, and reviews potential vendors and partners for market research, insights and competitive intelligence, freelance support, and more, to the benefit of potential and future agency needs
Brand Stewardship
- Brand immersion: Develops full understanding of the background and foundation of our client’s products or brands
- Competitive intelligence and monitoring: Maintains a watchful and discerning eye on key competitors, trends, and movements in the market to keep our teams (and clients) up to speed on major challenges or opportunities
- Audience identification: Defines clear target audiences through rich personas and distinct segments as needed
- Insight development: Discovers and crafts sharp, fresh, and actionable insights about the category and consumer context in which our brand operates
- Journey mapping: Articulates and develops clear, thoughtful journeys for each audience, including significant touchpoints and opportunities for the brand
- Strategic direction: Informs and reviews all creative manifestations of the brand, shaping strategic direction through POVs, briefs, and presentations
- Brand building: Navigates market research and collaborate on brand building blocks like positioning, vision and values, personality, and more
- Analytics and reporting: Collaborates with analysts and SMEs to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and measure success in market, informing optimizations as needed
- Comms & tactical planning: Leads collaborative agency efforts to develop tactical programs and annual plans, communications calendars, and content strategies/matrices
Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)
- 10+ years in a strategy role, with at least 6+ years leadership (

Background in healthcare or pharmaceutical marketing a plus)
- Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and interpersonal skills
- Experience mentoring or managing teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Keynote
- Proficiency in online collaboration tools such as Mural or Miro
- Exceptional, unparalleled, and adaptable communications and storytelling skills in a variety of formats, from POVs to pitches
- Experience with data analytics, including Google Analytics or Adobe
- Experience with additional resources and tools, such as DataMonitor, Meltwater, Netbase Quid, GWI, SEM Rush, etc. to gather insights and direct client strategy
- Experience leading market research
- Knowledge and experience of integrated marketing disciplines, including mastery of at least one of the following:
- SEO/SEM
- Relationship management (RM, CRM, PRM)
- Customer Experience (CX)
- User Experience (UX/UI)
- Social media
- Content strategy
- Supplementary knowledge or expertise beyond marketing in fields such as, but not limited to:
- Neuroscience
- Cognitive reasoning
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Market research
- Storytelling
- Entrepreneurship
