IMT’s headquarters is based in Culver City, CA. This is a hybrid role, and while we don’t mandate full time in-office time, candidates should be available to come into the IMT office M-W.
Who Do We Want?
IMT is seeking an award-winning Design Director capable of elevating our craft. You should be a
team player who has an eye for design, a no-nonsense approach to understanding the human
condition and understands how to bridge technology with creative ideas. You help solve how we
communicate with the masses via experiential moments.
Scope &Detail
You will govern and manage our design process from concept to final delivery through a design lens. You will be working closely with 3D Designers, producers, vendors and designers in building the best work possible for our clients. As our Design Director, your ability to identify digital solutions to elevate our creative vision is crucial. This role is comfortable concepting ideas, working with architects/designers and at the same time envision how products will be manufactured. Live events, trade shows, and marketing events tailored to both B2B and B2C marketing are second nature to you. All of this is through a digital lens.
Candidates should have experience managing internal goals, strategic expectations, logistic
constraints, and budget/timelines. You will be responsible for understanding and working within
project parameters, which include client goals and requirements, internal objectives, audience
expectations, budget and timeline constraints to deliver industry-leading creative work.
Responsibilities
- 7-10 years of experience within an agency, production company, or similar setting.
- A natural curiosity for the unique, the buzz-worthy, and the culturally relevant, with a willingness to push forward brave new ideas.
- Proven ability as a storyteller, confidently presenting and selling your creative ideas to colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
- Ability to articulate and rationalize creative decisions with strategic insights.
- Strong understanding of live event production and physical space, with knowledge of experiential design, scenic design, architecture, or similar fields.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite 3D, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Vectorworks/SketchUp, Maya, Rhino, or other CAD or similar modeling software
- Ability to juggle multiple disciplines and concurrent projects, completing work within tight
- timelines.
- Skill in crafting compelling narratives and delivering engaging client presentations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Obsession with brand and cultural trends across a range of disciplines.
- Experience in building creative teams, overseeing creative workflows, and driving forward all creative deliverables across projects.
- Genuine care for the creative discipline, the journey, and the people around you.
Requirements and skills
- Deep understanding of three dimensional and physical design builds
- Experience collaborating with 3D designers working in design softwares such as Maya, Rhino, sketch-up, CAD
- Proven 3D design experience in experiential and digital industries.
- A strong portfolio in design demonstrating expertise: Event graphics, Digital/UI graphics, Illustration, motion graphics, etc.
- Familiarity and experience with industry standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Microsoft Office)
- Familiarity or willing to learn to work in web-based (SAAS) co-working technologies (Google
- Suite slides, Slack, Monday a plus, Figma a plus)
- Ability to work with and understand design elevations. This is a must.
- Understanding of print materials and substrates, and how color translates across different media and fabrication build needs
- A keen eye for aesthetics and details
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
- Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus
Salary: Starting at 120K
