About CO280
CO280 is developing the world’s largest network of carbon removal projects with 10 million tonnes per year of carbon removal under development. Our projects deliver permanent, high quality carbon removal (CDR) at a fraction of the cost of other permanent CDR by capturing biogenic CO2 from pulp and paper mills and storing it permanently deep underground. We’re selling CDR at scale today for less than $200/tonne. We call this BioDAC. We’re the largest carbon removal company you haven’t heard of (yet).
We believe BioDAC has the potential to become the world’s first scalable and affordable carbon removal solution. The pulp and paper industry is the biggest opportunity for biomass CDR, with approximately 600 million tonnes per year of potential CDR. At CO280, our extraordinary team partners with pulp and paper companies to finance, own, and operate carbon removal projects that capture biogenic CO2 from mills, and permanent sequester it in deep saline aquifers. We’ve created a powerful network of partners including Schlumberger – Aker, Microsoft, JP Morgan and others to leverage existing capture technology and supply the best CDR solution to the voluntary carbon market.
Our projects aren’t limited to just environmental impact, we also create jobs in economic opportunity zones.
We’re backed by well-respected infrastructure and climate venture funds including NGP Energy Capital, the Grantham Foundation, Toyota Ventures, Carbon Removal Partners, and the Business Development Bank of Canada. We recently closed a Series A.
