Merchant - Men’s Apparel
Success Profile:GIII Apparel Group is currently seeking a Men’s Merchandiser to join its Converse Apparelteam based in New York City! The Merchant for Men’s Apparel will take a hands-on approach to developing a new business at G-iii Apparel. The merchant will be responsible for driving the growth and success of our business by identifying, developing, and launching new products and collections. The Merchant will act as a liaison between merchandising, design, quality control, sales, marketing, and suppliers. This role requires a highly analytical and creative individual who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, increase revenue, and improve margins. We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for the Men’s Apparel business and is driven, solves problems creatively and is a strong communicator.
Reporting to: VP of Merchandising
Brand/Product Focus: Men’s - Converse
Location (On-Site): New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist with the strategy, development, and selection of merchandise while supporting the department through the products life cycle.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and customer preferences.
- Manage the product development process from ideation to launch, including product development, sourcing, pricing, and promotion.
- Work with the merchandising and sales teams to create and implement effective product launch strategies, including pricing, promotion, and distribution.
- Analyze product performance and market data to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Provide reports and status updates regarding all ongoing projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective product launches, optimized merchandising, and coordinated marketing campaigns.
- Assist with ad-hoc requests.
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years in a merchandising role.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and ownership for a business.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work/partner with multiple departments at all levels.
- Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
- Proficient in excel, word and power point.
- Knowledge of retail math.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
The pay range for this position is: $80,000 - $100,000 per year
