Senior Investment Strategist for Insurance Markets

Director of Insurance Solutions

The Americas region will be led by the Director of Insurance Solutions in designing, communicating, and delivering insurance investment solutions. This role sits within a strategic insurance group that aims to extend global insurance capabilities in the US, Canada, and Bermuda.

This position works closely with colleagues across different locations, including Asset Classes and Client Groups, to help set the strategic direction for engagement with insurers. The focus is on advisory and discretionary relationships in the US and Canada.

• A collaborative effort with the Institutional Team in the Americas will execute our insurance business strategy, assessing potential target clients and their needs. We communicate and present Aberdeen's insurance investment capabilities, design and propose solutions through close collaboration with relevant investment teams, and support and enhance the insurance knowledge of colleagues working directly with existing insurance clients and prospective insurance clients.
• We provide guidance, advice, and thought leadership to insurers relating to industry trends and themes, market conditions, and regulatory developments. Regional knowledge is captured and shared through strategic engagement with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Investment solutions are conceived and implemented for insurance clients in close collaboration with portfolio management teams. This includes pooled products for the mass-market and bespoke solutions for individual insurers.
• We develop and maintain relationships with key insurance clients and prospects, delivering excellent client service and providing technical support on insurance investment matters in a consulting/advisory capacity.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must be credible in the eyes of US and Canadian insurance CIOs, demonstrating strong understanding of the technical requirements of different types of insurers, exceptional knowledge of NAIC, OSFI, and BMA regulatory frameworks, and strong technical investment expertise.
