Position Summary

The Marketing, PR & Social Media Manager is a full-time, exempt, high-impact leadership role responsible for elevating GBCHC’s brand, leading external communications, managing media relations, developing mission-aligned content, and driving social media presence and engagement.

This individual serves as GBCHC’s lead storyteller and visibility strategist—capturing the heart of the organization through compelling narratives, strong digital engagement, and professional public representation.

Core ResponsibilitiesI. Brand Management & Organizational Visibility

  • Ensure all communications reflect GBCHC’s mission: removing barriers and increasing access to quality healthcare.
  • Develop and execute the annual Marketing & Communications Strategy.
  • Strengthen and maintain GBCHC’s brand identity across all platforms and materials.
  • Promote GBCHC as a statewide leader in equitable, high-quality free healthcare.
  • Conduct periodic brand reviews and provide visibility recommendations to the CEO and leadership team.

II. Public Relations & Media Strategy

  • Cultivate strong relationships with local, state, and national media outlets.
  • Maintain awareness of and access to diverse media platforms including television, radio, print journalism, digital news outlets, podcasts, and community publications.
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, messaging briefs, op-eds, feature stories, and CEO talking points.
  • Secure earned media coverage to increase awareness of GBCHC’s mission, programs, partnerships, and impact.
  • Prepare the CEO and leadership for interviews, press engagements, and public speaking events.
  • Coordinate press opportunities, legislative visits, and community-facing announcements.
  • Monitor news cycles and identify timely opportunities to position GBCHC as a thought leader in free and charitable healthcare.
  • Maintain a media database and track all media placements.

III. Social Media Strategy, Management & Growth

  • Design and execute a strategic social media plan for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Develop consistent, mission-aligned content that highlights patient success (with consent), volunteer stories, staff features, community partnerships, and event highlights.
  • Strengthen engagement, visibility, and brand voice across all platforms.
  • Track analytics, prepare monthly performance reports, and adjust strategy based on insights.
  • Build targeted campaigns for fundraising, awareness months, events, and community initiatives.

IV. Content Creation, Storytelling & Digital Media

  • Serve as GBCHC’s lead storyteller, capturing meaningful narratives about patient outcomes, volunteer contributions, staff impact, and program successes.
  • Capture high-quality photos and video footage while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance and formal consent processes.
  • Maintain a well-organized digital media archive of photos, video clips, branded assets, and communication materials.
  • Work with a variety of external vendors to enhance storytelling efforts (e.g., multimedia companies, photographers, videographers, designers, and printing partners).

V. Website Management

  • Maintain website content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with programming, services, events, and organizational priorities.
  • Improve navigation, readability, and user experience for patients, volunteers, partners, and donors.
  • Support SEO efforts to increase online discoverability and accessibility.

VI. Event Communications & Community Engagement

  • Support the communication and promotional needs of GBCHC events including fundraisers, legislative open houses, community health activities, and volunteer appreciation.
  • Create or coordinate event resources such as scripts, programs, signage, digital materials, and photo coverage.
  • Provide live social media engagement during major events.
  • Represent GBCHC at community or partner events as directed.

VII. Internal Collaboration & Leadership Support

  • Collaborate closely with the Development Director on donor-facing storytelling, campaigns, and engagement materials.
  • Work with department leaders across Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Vision, Operations, and Volunteer Management to highlight initiatives and successes.
  • Draft internal communications, leadership messages, and presentations for the CEO as needed.
  • Provide communication support during crises, urgent announcements, or community health situations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-3+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, PR, or content strategy (healthcare or nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Strong writing, editing, photography, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing social media channels with measurable growth in engagement and reach.
  • Proficiency with Canva or similar tools; Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Rush) is a plus.
  • Experience with website content management platforms such as WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles and experience using tools such as Yoast SEO, Google Analytics, or Google Search Console.
  • Comfortable using social media scheduling and analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, Creator Studio, Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later).
  • Skilled in email marketing platforms (Constant Contact preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneDrive).
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Trello, Asana, Monday.com, or Notion.
  • Experience operating basic photography and video equipment (professional camera or mobile).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, cultural competency, and equitable patient care.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates have strong multimedia experience—including photography, videography, on-camera storytelling, and digital content development—and can work both independently and collaboratively with external vendors to produce mission-aligned, high-quality materials.

Must also have awareness of and access to diverse media channels—including television, radio, print journalism, digital news outlets, podcasts, and community publications—and the ability to build and leverage media relationships to elevate GBCHC’s visibility and influence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,500.00 - $65,000.00 per year
